Is the Rocket III for me? Hi from Canada!

Well done . I've got the same one . I went to the motocycle show yesterday at the nec in birmingham uk . I had a long talk to the technical bloke on the triumph stand about anything and everything . I said that I could never leave my bike to do10k miles between oil and filter service . He was saying they had done mileage tests up to 30 k plus on the same oil with very little signs of wear . He also said they are aware of previous teething issues and always tried to address them in the next model of bike . He was a genuine sort of bloke and put my concerns about reliability at rest . I just need some dry weather now . Good luck with your bike

Well I be dipped in $hit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have followed this entire thread in silent disbelief.
I thought this was a young articulate dweeb having us all on.
NEVER thought he'd come back after that thrashing similar to "Buy My Book".
NEVER EVER thought he would actually purchase a Rocket.
Real glad I was patient.
I got to see a ROCKETMAN be BORN!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome Rico,

Welcome aboard The Beast Express, she wont disappoint you. Great choice and enjoy the Psychos are us experience!

I think the biggest problem was that he jumped on and started asking asinine questions without doing any research on his own. Just about every question he asked has been debated on here ad nauseum. Then he got pissed when we flung a little $hit at him for it. It's happened before...will probably happen again.

I agree. When I was considering the R3R I spent lots of time, hours, days, weeks, reading through all these posts. Lots of good info throughout this forum if you just take the time to filter through it all and find the answers that will help you decide on your own. I researched some of the other Triumph forums but found this one more helpful, and you know, what a great bunch of passionate, considerate, kind hearted, empathetic Rocket owners.

There is no crying in Biking, not if you own a Rocket anyway!

Hey Guys. I am back.

I just wanted to say that I apologize for the mixup we had. First off, I probably came around in the wrong way, and I should have come across a little differently. I'll be the first to say I apologize for the rude behaviour, I was having a very bad week at work, was a little emotional, I got set off pretty easy... I do love my Suzuki, but I'm ready for something a little different, something a little higher quality.. The Rocket III looks like the only bike I can think of that is awesome enough for me to consider after enjoying my Boulevard for 5 years.

Once again, I apologize for the ruffled feathers, I hope we can be friends and share lots of information together. I did not mean to get upset with you guys, but it seems there are some good folk here for sure.

Now that thats out the way, I have my eye on a 2012 Rocket III Roadster for sale here in the GTA and I will probably be going over to the dealership on the weekend to have a look at it. They came back to me for a 3rd time with an offer for my current bike which is very fair, I would only have to pay about 5K + taxes to get onto the Rocket. We don't have many for sale here at all, I dont think I have ever in my life seen one on the road, which means its unique and thats the kind of thing Im looking for. The Rocket at the dealership I am going to see is a 2012 with only 511KM on it (They consider that used, I consider that just broken in!) They want $13K for it.

One of the things I'm most interested in right now if I consider the rocket would be a quick release back rest system... I have something like that right now but I am not sure if it will fit on the Rocket.. I'll have to do some measurements.

BTW I can't believe this post generated so many responses, i've never seen that happen before!

I bought my 2012 Roadster August 31st this year. I had looked at them and sat on them and thought about them for a few years but never rode one. I spent a lot of time researching this forum and was convinced I wanted the bike. I bought it used, very low mileage, one year left on the warranty, from a dealer 600 miles away. So my first experience was the ride home. I took two days and not the most direct route. Love the bike! I have never experienced anything like it. Power, handling...and ugly to one may be beautiful to another. It is definitely unique looking in the cruiser world. I've done some basic additions already and still waiting on the Corbin Beetle bags. Anyway. Welcome back. Buy the bike!
