[Edit: PLEASE look at the first post . . . updated the info there.]
The original post gives the wrong part number, and was never corrected. It isn't mentioned until the 3rd page. I also bought the wrong starter.
Hi Wayne, hey I got the 1.4 from starter place in Georgia and it did not fit on my bike.Any ideas? I have a 04' R3

Before you buy a replacement starter make sure you know which type you should be looking at.
The Rocket requires a ccw direction motor. not all the part numbers listed where for such,
I first purchased a 17794 starter this is a brand new after market product not a denso unit.it is cw which is no good, and the bolts do not line up,
the second unit i got was a 17610 which is ccw and bolted straight in .It is also a rebuilt after market unit. i think the denso unit is 280-0174.
The 17610 starter is starting well and seems strong, time will tell. I can always go back to the stock one if it fails but i have heard good things so far.
Thanks Wayne if you had not told us about a bigger starter i for one may not have looked.
Thanks Scott for getting these parts shipped over to me .
Yes, I went and read the beginning of the thread, and now am the proud owner of the wrong starter.![]()
