I can still hear the bell - motorcycles

......also......My understanding is that in many countries, motorcycling is statistically more of a 'mature' interest/hobby. Not like when we were young.

You have to take into consideration that these 20 somethings have been raised on EV bikes and scooters since early childhood. Their parents purchase them so the kids growing up have little 'Pride Of Ownership'. They ride them then park them in the garage to recharge. It's simple just unplug and ride. Instant access and gratification. They are wired differently pertaining to 2 wheels. They are not instructed on the rules of the road as you can see 10 year old's out riding blowing stop signs and running people off the sidewalks. I don't have a problem with these kids growing up and not owning a motorcycle in the least (or a car). They really don't have the background of parents/grandparents riding motorcycles, the joy of knowing the sounds and smells and being taught the skills necessary to ride safely. Social Media seems to be the driving force behind some younger people riding for their life driven constant attention and self worth. I would never discourage anyone to not do anything they want to accomplish. I just don't have a problem if they don't pertaining to motorcycles.
This coming from a slightly elder motorcycle rider. By the way, Stay off my lawn.

A lot to digest there. I started riding my son on the front when his little noggin could hold up a helmet. We rode out on country roads and spent the whole time giving it the gas or beeping the darn horn. Once he got old enough to ride on the back he had zero interest. I never pushed motorcycles after that and he still hasn't ridden again. My grandkids sat on the Honda Monkey....zero interest.

When I was growing up seemed like everyone had a motorcycle or car or wanted one. The only thing that disappoints me is that they missing out on one of the joys of life.

Just a thought........

Back in the day, we didn't have the 'internet'.
We looked around us. Not through a screen.
Because of that, in order to tend to our natural curiosity, we saw devises such as bikes to be hugely useful tools for adventure & got hooked into the way the dynamics of riding made us feel. Bicycles,....then motorbikes......then bigger, more powerful ones......to reach the horizon a bit faster....we were hooked.

With a screen in the hand of a child and endless places you can (in theory) travel to, there's no need to actually go anywhere.

Just a thought....

....a sad thought....

Well, I flipped that script. I now use all the screen to find the best places to ride and how to get there from here.

I do think we possibly lost a generation of motorcyclists.

Well.....I'm not sure if you fully flipped it, Taz, because you most likely discovered bicycles/motorbikes before the internet was in your hand.

...Still, certainly a good thumbs up for modern technology......it certainly can be a useful tool.

Well, in the UK cars became very cheap in the 2000's.......it rains a lot......cars get better odds for scoring a date......they played space invaders instead of getting out on their bicycles......skipped motorcycles and went straight to cars......perhaps.
