How to Install Triple K&Ns Under BearClaw

I wouldn't do it, but with the stock exhaust on you are less likely to do harm. Is there a TuneEcu tune for your set up, or something to get you in the ballpark? If there is a PCIII map just import it into a stock tune and load it with TuneEcu.

If it makes you feel any better, I have seen someone run triple filters and Jardine exhaust with stock fueling.
 
So, I have a Tune ECU, right? That is the part on the right side that I moved to get to the O2 Sensor that I couldn't find . The O2 Sensor and the bit sticking out of the exhaust that I would need the M18 for are still in place and wired up because I did not have the parts to finish that part of this operation. So, I need the )2 bypass, and something, a cable of some sort and a computer, to program that stock Tune ECU with the correct tune. If I do this, I can hold off on buying a Power Commander 5 for a little while?

By the way, sorry I have so many questions. I probably shouldn't have gotten so deep into this without being prepared. Thanks for being patient.

Ok, I was working in the dark last night. The O2 sensor is the plug on the other end of the O2 bung coming out of the header. Immersion is a hell of a way to learn Still need to know about the tuning though. Any help there so I can get back on the road would be appreciated.
 

Medic...I'm right there with you. I've been working on my Classic for the past couple of months with no prior experience with tuning. However...while there was some initial resistance to TuneEcu on my part, I have changed my mind and will be installing TuneEcu as soon as the necessary cable arrives from CHINA. If you decide to install TuneEcu...do yourself a favor...do not order the cable off of the internet from China...comes on a VERY slow boat to this side of the world...I've been waiting for two weeks for mine. I think there is someone on this forum that stocks them - PowerTripp maybe? and can get the cable to you in just a few days (I saw his post after I ordered my cable). All you need to do to install the TuneEcu map is download TuneEcu onto your laptop, choose the correct map for your setup, plug the computer into your ODB port under your seat, then download the map....and you are done. No PCIII or additional investment is required, as TuneEcu is FREE.
 
Thanks GKiller. I just bit the bullet and ordered a Power Commander 5 for $296 on Ebay. Triples will not be my last mod. I plan to get an aftermarket exhaust eventually and I've been told that just about any shop with a dyno can program a Power Commander, so that helped me make my decision.

You will like the PowerCommander. I am currently running the PCIII-USB, and will also install TuneEcu map in order to open the secondaries to 100% and correct speedo, then will have bike dyno'd next week to dial it in using the PCIII. I was going to do the triple filters, but decided against it as I just do not really see the need...my bike runs great, am satisfied with the power, and feel the tweaks I have made with exhaust, CAT delete, PCIII, TuneEcu, and dyno will be very satisfactory for me.

I ordered my cable at AMAZON and it arrived in few days. With warranty and so on.

On my side you will find some information about the free software Tune Ecu. On their side you will find some successfull done mods to download. I am satisfied with the possibilities of tune ecu and would recommend to work with this solution.

I have ordered everything to do my 2010 Roadster with the K&Ns.

Ordered:
O2 eliminator optimizer
crank case filter
IAS filter (will try to get the IAS in the air flow later)
M18 plug
K&N filters


Question on the tuning. I went to Power Trip performance and Wayne enriched the tune by using TuneECU (I believe it was 17%), moved the rev limiter up to 6200 RPM if I'm not mistaken, moved the speed limiter up higher than I will ever go, and adjusted the secondaries to where they are open. This was back when Wayne was wanting some one with a STOCK Roadster so he can get the numbers off it before any alterations in the tune or aftermarket tune accessories. I find out later after I get back that going down there my numbers was "useless" because I have a CAR TIRE on my Roadster. Therefore the bike is not STOCK after all. Anyways make a long story short Wayne will not return my email, will not send or email me my numbers. So I guess he is pissed or something. I have gave up on getting the info because I have been polite and asked NUMEROUS times. He said he will mail them "TODAY" and that's been weeks ago. So I don't know EXACTLY where I am at far as enrichment. I've even ask "how much it will cost if I come down with a motorcycle tire on, Tors, crossover, and start a fresh?" but never got any response.

SO... I have installed TORS exhaust and Staintune crossover SINCE I have been down to Power Tripp and now going to install the K&N filters now. Wayne said that my tune will be plenty rich enough for the TORS exhaust but I was wondering if I will be OK with the added air that the K&Ns will provide???

What do you guys think???
 
NO! It will go lean on you. If you are going to put the K and N's on, remove the secondaries at this time. With them opening 100%, there isn't any reason to leave them in and they do restrict a tiny amount of air. The screws are probably already loose. (no joke)
I had a tune for the crossover and tors with the k&N's. It was a good tune that changed the timing in the first 3 gears to get all she has.

You need to put your bike on a dyno when you make serious changes that effect your A/F ratio. If youi need a good tune for that set up, Bruce has one that will get you real close aalong with a good ingition timing map change.

Wayne proably gave you a good tune. The tire shouldn't effectr your A/F ratio. If it was free, I wouldn't say too much about it.lol

Is your car tire O/S diameter smaller than the stock tire?
Let me know if you need the tune and we'll try to shake Bruce up.

If I hook the TuneECU to my bike... get the numbers that way.... let you look at them .... can you tell me if it will be OK or not?

I didn't realize that the CT was not "stock" for Wayne or I wouldn't have went. I don't believe he did either until later after a few pulls on the dyno. The car tire robs torque.

I really dont know if the diameter is smaller or larger.... it supposed to be very close.

Do you know of a dyno near Anderson SC for motorcycles? Or how do I find one? I doubt Power Tripp will let me in the door.
