How to Install Triple K&Ns Under BearClaw

Bill, It's in the airflow and will be fine. It's not where I personally installed mine, but that's just because I have a different cut on my bearclaw that shows the tops of the filters.
Nice work. I like the cut on the claw too, shows personality.
Much better than it just lying on top of the valve cover. LOL

By the way, I noticed the oil cap temp gauge ... good choice.

Another really nice claw cut. Put tripples on yesterday and just put the BC back for now. To cut or not to cut, that is the question. Between this one, Evil Mitch and HF's (and I'm sure others) there are some great examples. Might look at a stainless overflow bottle before deciding on whether and how.

Also fitted a Dobec TFI which I got from Flip, instead of a PC. Running great - better than great actually. :D And no more decel popping. Very happy.

One question. The 'chirping'. Is it normal and does it indicate anything that needs attention?

The "chirping" is probably the same sound I hear in both my bike and MINI. It's just air flowing past the butterfly's and intake runners. Annoying, but normal. The noise the MINI makes is almost scary ... You can hear the supercharger and of course all the flaps/runners etc. LOL
Installing triples and cutting the claw exposes you to all the noises from the intake valves, injectors, butterfly's. I guess we didn't warn you ... lol ;)

Wait until you get silly with the throttle for whatever reason and she backfires .... that's a treat!

Thanks, I thought it was 'normal'. Sort of a squeaking noise but not a bother, especially with the TORS barking - which by the way seem to have a deeper sound now.

Not sure what you mean by 'getting silly with the throttle'. Thought that's what I was doing. :D

Yeah, I hid alot of those "strange" noises with TOR's as well. lol
The throttle/backfire through the throttle bodies thing I was talking about ... hmmm how to describe it?.... well, I guess it happens to me when I'm in too high a gear at really, REALLY low speeds and burp the throttle like an idiot. Could be the rich mix it's set at, could be that the GiPro has the ignition advanced ... don't know why it happens once in a while. But on occasion, it "POPS" fire from the throttle bodies and you can kind of see the flash at night through the triples. Weird I know ... but it happens

Yeah, had a small one last night actually. Think it was the cold air - temp had plumetted to 15C (60F) and I even had to put on a long sleeve t-shirt. Felt it on my knee as much as heard it. I expect it will be more noticeable if/when I cut the claw.

COLD AIR 60F .... darn you. :D
Got her plugged in for the unseasonably "warm" weather expected at the end of the week ... 50F. I'm excited to get it out from under the blankets and blow the cobs out. But it certainly won't be 60 degrees. There will still be snow on the ground, but I'm gonna ride dammit! lol

Thanks hellfire just was not sure if it was going to be ok. Got it booked in Mon for the dyno so i will post the results.
This is a link to the shop am getting it dynoed.
Home - HIGHLAND MOTORCYCLE DYNOS
After the dyno work is done, consider putting K&N prefilter covers on them. They do a nice job of shedding water and keeping large debris out of the folds of the exposed filter elements. You can easily make a hole in the top of one for the sensor with a soldering iron, it melts the material so it doesn't fray.

Gee... We hve those too, in stock.

I'm gonna let the cat out of the bag. I'm finalizing the laser plots for my Flipmeisters Polished and Satin 6000 Series Aluminum Triple K&N Filter Toppers, soon to be offered on the website.

They will attach to the top of each individual RU2780 with a stainless steel stud and insert nut. Installation will be simply laying the enclosed template over the filter top and marking the location of the stud hole, then drilling through the top of the filter and securing the Topper and they will fit on top of fliters that utilize the K&N Water Resistant Overwraps as well.

Life is good.
