How much were the custom order clutch cables vs. the stock cables? I will have to replace my cable next service.
Thanks.

Ditto.

Why are you wanting to replace your cables? Are you seeing wear or just want a better cable. It sure would be nice to have a spare.

clutch cable

biker1059 - I thought the same thing, but I guess the clutch cables will stretch over time and will need replaced as the adjustment threads run out of adjustment space. Hence, the need for a new cable.

The dealer always readjusts them for me when I take it in for service but they told me next time I'll need a new one.

I was having a hard time finding neutral. It was because my clutch cable needed adjustment. To much slack in the line by the clutch lever makes it more difficult to get the bike in neutral. Obviously, I'm not a wrench head or else I could have readjusted it myself.

If I remember right, the Barnett cable was $50 for the stainless finish. I think the black one was cheaper by $10 or so. A stock cable is around $37 or $40 for the Classic.

Not only can cables stretch but strands can break and make the whole thing weaker and more prone to total snapping.

Not to alarm you, but if you are needing to adjust the clutch cable often and you are certain the cable settings are locked tight and the cable isn't stretching then it's likely your internal clutch components like the lifter shaft is getting eaten away (go find my clutch warning thread in tech forum for details). Clutch plates may also be eaten and require adjustment if you are slipping the clutch a lot or dumping a load on hard launches.
