I still manage to enjoy my Rocket. I just had a great weekend with it. Yesterday was a beautiful Autumn day so I took the girlfriend for a spin to Fenelon Falls and took in the scenery, watched some boats going up in the lift locks then cruised up to Minden to the scenic lookout. The sun was shining and though we are still about a week from the peak colours the view was breathtaking. It was so inspiring that we ducked into the bushes for a quickie then headed home. On the way back towards the city I spotted a bunch of kiddies on sport bikes and they seemed to want to run faster than the traffic and being in no particular hurry I eased to the right and waved them past me in my lane. Not one of the squids even acknowledged this! later we were going around some curves and they were hanging off and putting their knees down which was amusing as they weren't going that fast so I dropped two gears and gave the fat girl a blast past them and never saw them again. I was laughed at when I got home for being childish but it was one of the best days yet this year. I'm just a kid of 66 compared to our moderating elder statesman from down under but I ain't dead yet
I'm not supporting what I'm fixing to say but have realized that this could be an option at an older age. A nice truck and a good trailer. I saw a lot of bikes on trailers while on a trip to Gatlinburg TN. I looked at the owner and most was of elderly age. This gives them the option to ride the bike in the mountains, to enjoy a ride, to get their "fix" of riding a motorcycle and when tired or hurting they can trailer it. I would like to say I will never trailer a bike but getting older will have its consequences.
I learned to drive a sidecar outfit years ago so that when the time came that I could no longer manage a 2 wheeler, I could still have the wind in my face.
I've logged thousands of miles with a sidecar rig but, for now, still prefer 2 wheels under me. In fact, I sold my Goldwing rig to buy my R3R.
turning 68 in january yet never thought about when I would stop riding the beast as long as I can physically hold on to the handlebar that's good enough .
I think of re painting her this winter BRG YYYYes!! thats some cool color!! would be the first and only one
