How long.......do you keep your ride?

How about 31 years? .

Not bad - I've had my Guzzi since 1982. Sat a few years at my folks in the early '90's whilst I was job hopping - but is used every week. I'll still have it LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG after the R3 is gone.

I would think you would have had to rebuild it several times by the time you hit 100,000 miles. That's the beauty of having more than one bike. Spreads the mileage around.

All bikes are different...I sold one yesterday that I'd kept just over a year. Two RM125's and a YZ250 sitting in a shed at my uncle's place that I was a teenager the last time I threw a leg over. Some I get really attached to and can't turn loose others I never develop a connection with and sell in fairly short order.

That's the quandary that I'll be facing this next year. I want a dedicated touring machine and after many, many demo rides the choice is down to a Trophy or an Indian Chieftain. The other question is what to do with my R3. I know that I won't get much of a trade-in and it wouldn't sell for much more either. It will have around 70k miles by then. Do I hold on to it for a hooligan bike or move it out to make room in the garage? I put 88k miles on an '83 Yamaha Venture and still wish that I had that bike today.

When I took a sip of the Triumph kool aid, I chugged the sh*t until I nearly drowned in it.

I was normally 2 years but I love my 2 Triumphs (the other one is a Bonneville SE) and hope to keep them as long as they will last me. Financially I'm within 4 years of paying off both motorcycles, both my wife's and my own automobile are both paid for and I hope to have that wonderful feeling with my motorcycles.
I'll be ok without the latest, greatest, fastest or payments.

After reading all the posts I seem to be in good company....
I'm always looking and reading about other machines on the market but none seem to make me want to give up the rocket. I do like the adventure touring class of bikes like the tiger and only because this machine would take me places the rocket can't. Other than that I think the rocket will be in my garage for a large number of years. During that time I'll be making a trip south to carpenter racing for the 240+ kit.

don't plan on selling the Rocket keep saying I'm going to sell the ol' Honda ST1100 had her for 11years and just bring myself to sell her only ridden it twice since I got the Rocket
