How far do you take it?

So what you're saying is that it's time to use TuneECU to generate a 15% error, just in case you get nabbed for speeding?

Not sure if it works but I read somewhere that it's good to put a tank full of higher octane through a motor now and then to help keep things a bit cleaner on the inside , be doing it with my cars and bikes for years .

I was under the same impression and after a quick Google search came up with the following from Caltex in the Product Data Sheet for Vortex 95:

"Caltex Vortex Premium 95 is a high-performance premium unleaded petrol specially formulated to clean your car's fuel system while you drive. It has a minimum Research Octane Number (RON) of 95 and meets the Fuel Quality Standards Act 2000.
Over time, deposits build up in critical parts of your car's fuel system, including fuel injectors and intake valves. This build-up of deposits happens slowly so you may not notice the performance of your car slowly deteriorating. A build-up of deposits results in reduced combustion efficiency which leads to a loss of power, slower acceleration, increased fuel consumption and higher exhaust emissions."

From the Shell website:

"Shell V-Power (which is 98 RON) contains powerful cleaning technology designed to prevent the build up of power robbing deposits from forming on intake valves and fuel injectors."

I don't know if these claims are genuine or snake oil, perhaps the more learned amongst us could elaborate.

Well until Triumph are called in - see how often and IIRC when last your ECU tune has been altered and claim foul. Then of course you'll be done for falsifying evidence.

Leave the bugger alone - buy a GPS speedo.

Haha, I think I'll just stick to the speed limit to the greatest extent possible, and if I get caught pay the fine like a good boy, the cost of violating the law.

@Neville Lush posted some pics of two engines a while ago. 1 used nothing but premium fuel and the other used 91, the difference was chalk and cheese with the premium engine MUCH cleaner.
I only use 98 but would use 95 if I had too.
