High-intensity rear/brake LED?

I just want to share something that happened to me when I first got my R3T.
Tail light burned out. Since there is only one, I went with led. Worked good, but then I installed a subharness so I could power light on a trailer. When I hooked up the trailer, the Brake light stayed on constantly on the trailer. Found out the led did not draw enough running light current, so the bikes computer left a small voltage on the Brake circuit. It was just enough to make the sub harness think the brakes were applied. I had to go back to regular bulb.

That is quite a difference on the tail lights.

I suspect I'll wind up doing this type of mod myself eventually after all.

This is clearly late reply - just came across this while searching for something else

Don't know what you're talking about there - the computer has zero influence on either the Running Light or Brake Light.
And besides - even if you replaced the actual tail/stop bulb, there are still two other incandescents on the running/park circuit - the front park bulb and the license plate bulb (unless you also replaced those two)
So I'm having hard time seeing the mechanism or the logic - it sounds more like an issue with the trailer to bike interconnect system.

Could be something incorporated into the bike to trailer wiring loom that expects a resistive load.
But Earth fault would FAR more likely.

Anyone know of a good LED drop-in replacement for the rear brake light on the R3T? I'm upgrading the front to LED and was thinking I could see about raising the intensity of the rear as well but not sure what would do the job.

Edit: I'm thinking of giving 1157 LED Bulb - Dual Function 45 SMD LED Tower - BAY15D Retrofit | LED Brake Light, Turn Light and Tail Light Bulbs | LED Car Light Bulbs | Super Bright LEDs a whirl. From what I've read it comes closest to matching an incandescent bulb for light output "pattern" so it uses the stock reflector appropriately so the net effect is actually an increase in light which isn't true for all LED... $25 won't break the bank I guess, worth a shot, if it sucks I can go back to the tried and true.

Croft,
I've tried a few drop in replacements from the auto parts store without any satisfaction; until that is, I found these, I'm very happy with them and they plug directly in without any modification, I also added a flasher for awareness. I don't have a video or pics but I can confirm the brake light is brighter. Lastly, I also upgraded to the Daymaker headlight/driving lights and found them to be a vast improvement in the front lighting of the bike.

High Power LED Bulb Replacements

Sincerely,
Booya Bob
