Help please, 08 R3T not starting

if we assume that the crank/cams r correct the only thing i can see that would result in 15 psi on compression would be the valves not closing.
i am assuming that the cam would have more lift so if that is the case did u change your (can't remember $hit) valve adjusters.

How many pucks did you replace?
Either way, did you measure all the clearances after you were finished?
Recheck your math?

I changed all of the exhaust shims and have checked the clearance several times afterwards with consistent results.

if u have the cover off
u could bring #1 to top dead center and check valve position and clearance (on compression stroke).
might also put compressed air into it to see what happens.

grasping at straws
would it be possible to switch the cams and place it the wrong position

I'm the one with the problem. Here are some photos of the cam and crank timing marks as those are the obvious suspects. Helpful tip for anyone that doesn't have the cam jig: Micrometer jaws will fit in the cam holes and one tooth off would be obvious. I used a straight edge to line up the arrows to eliminate any optical illusions. The crank sprocket dot was missing so I had to use the dots on the crank itself.
Shouldn't cam alignment marks be checked with the cam cover gasket removed? Just another thought!

Just checked compression and only have 15 psi on all cylinders, zero with the throttle open (secondaries at 95%). I left all the other plugs in and disconnected the coil primaries per direction on other threads. What did I screw up?

Wow....that is totally unacceptable. Reading through all of Paul posts, something has to be off. Apparently it is easier to do than we think.

That was my thought also, I sent Jester a text and told him to look at the ending of Paul's thread. Hopefully they will get to talk and can sort this out between them.

So we know its compression, how can you be at 15psi cranking?

Hole in piston.
Valves not closing (you've already eliminated this as a possible cause however).
Rings/Lands demolished.
Crack in the head/block.
Bad (seriously bad) Headgasket.
Spark plug not actually seated (possibly crossthreaded).
Cams are way out of time.

So start with the simple things first, its probably one of those.

Like I suggested to another cam issue member, a leakdown test will quickly reveal where the problem lies.

If your valve clearances are in spec, then your valves are closing, at least well enough to register more than 15 psi. Cam Timing or not seated sparkplug are the two things I'd be checking first.

if u put air/smoke in to cyl (at compression on #1) it will either come out on intake or exhaust or out the engine breather tube or out the top if cover is removed.
