My problem seems to be the helmet itself seems to resonate with the exhaust sound. Even earplugs don't do much for it. I suspect since modern helmets fit tighter and contact as much of the head as possible to spread the impact load, they also transfer the exhaust sound to your skull where it's picked up by your ears. That would explain why earplugs don't help much. Wore my piss bucket the other night and what a pleasant ride that was. Tempted to go back even though I know better.

I just bought a new HJC full face with the sun shields that slide up and down. It also has the release so the front flips up with the shield. It is very noisy. HJC I-Max2 is the style helmet. I'm going to wash the foam inserts and see if that takes care off it .If not I am returning it for Shoei. I 've owned those in the past but it was dropped and don't like to wear helmets that have been compromised.

Do you have custom molded ear plugs? Back when my wife road she liked those. Said they worked better than the foam ones.

I've got Shoei 3/4 & Full. Schuberth 3/4 & Bell half. All seem kinda loud. After an hour I don't really notice. Stock pipes.

Speak up, what did you say? Can you repeat that please?:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

Silly putty is the best ear plug you can use and the cheapest. Use it take it out throw it away. Open up the little egg .. make another plug. It is more comfortable to wear as well. I've used it numerous times besides ear plugs. Still have some laying around here somewhere.

My cousin had ear problems when he was growing up. He had to wear silly putty in his ears in order to keep the water out when he was swimming.
