Flare say a set of pads will last 6-8 weeks. They also say do not immerse the foam in water simply wipe the outside clean - and do not use alcohol etc.

My plan is simple - ride with these until I know how well they last and then either forget them or buy lots more foam pads and maybe a Titanium set.

I am indeed grateful for you pointing them out. Looking more at the sizing the Large pads are only 0.5mm larger than Mediums. The Isolates are a bit fatter than the Isolate-minis. Flare say the size matters not - so If you don't NEED the large pad I'd agree - go for the minis and they fit in your ear-well without touching anything in the lid.

Oh and they specifically say NOT to attach a cord to them - it stops them working as well.
Glad you like them.

The pads in mine show no sign of wear after a few months of use. I haven't cleaned them yet. Maybe ear cheese preserves them! :) I will clean them now whilst I remember.

I have a difficult time finding earplugs that fit. My ear canals are large but very shallow. The yellow foam ones I posted the picture of are the only ones I've ever found that are large enough in diameter. The ones like pictured in the previous post would touch my eardrum and still fall out. :(

This spring the wife and I decided to get full face helmets for safety reasons. Since we both have long heads like the creature in the "Alien" movie, we went with Arai as they have a special line of long helmets. Real happy with them except they really amplify the sound of the exhaust. My Rocket isn't terribly loud with the Maddogs on it, but it's annoyingly loud with the full face. Even the old Valkyrie I'm riding till my rockets fixed is loud in these helmets, and it has stock exhaust. Anyone else have this problem ?

I have no issues with my Arai, except it's hot above 90F.

Fred - Is there anywhere near you that molds custom plugs? Basically they place a foam protector in your ear and pump silicone putty in. Better fit impossible.

I have a set that were made for me at the IWA shooting fair in Germany. EAR-Inc (they're a US company) was promo-ing. Thing is they were doing them fast; so were a bit Quick And Chunky in the outer Ear. But they were NOT expensive. The problem with mine is that the part in the outer ear is TOO BIG and can just rub the helmet padding. But it's an option.

Short fat ear canals - I would (if I were you) try a set of the MAN-SIZE Flare Isolates. Aluminium ones. You can always give them to your better half if they don't fit. And if you find the metal part a bit big - they'll easily turn down smaller! - Turning down Titanium ones a bit more awkward.

I'll have to my calipers out and see which size I need ! Does the metal part go far enough into your ear that you don't scrape them out putting your helmet on ?
