Hello from North Carolina!

Hi Art. I just bought me a brand spankin new '13 also. The Phantom black w/ the red stripes. I get mine the second week of July. That matte finish is badass! Yours is a beauty:D

Congratulations. I think the R3R is the best present that we can give ourselves. The waiting certainly sucks, but kids have been doing it at Christmas for years.

The day finally arrived...

I'm back in NC Saturday night. Sunday finds me waiting for the dealership to open at noon. So, here's the deal. I've been waiting 25 years to buy a bike. I did not respect the last bike I had, so I got rid of it before I killed myself. I'm of a much different mindset at age 47. The bottom line is that I haven't been on a bike in 25 years.

I bought this bike without ever seeing one, let alone sitting on one. My first impression of the Rocket is, "Holy sh!t. That's a big f-ing bike". It was a little daunting. As my paperwork was being finished my wife and I purchased helmets, jackets, boots and gloves. Rang a big bell, everyone in the dealership applauded, took a picture and they brought the bike outside. It's time to go. With all eyes watching, including my wifes, I get on the bike with all my shiny new gear, start that imposing pig up and ride off like a boss!

I rode around for 15 minutes or so and reaquainted myself with riding and then the wife followed me home. That was the best 80 miles I've ever had. I made it home just as the thunderstorm hit. It was a perfect day. I just wanted to share my experience with you guys.

Here's the newest pic.

Take care Art .. Rockets take a bit of getting used to. I've been riding all my life , i've never not had a large capacity British , Euro or American bike .. and the Rocket took some getting used to after jumping off the 2007 HD I had before the Rocket. The Rocket is a very forgiving motorcycle .. but it punishes foolishness. Enjoy but enjoy with a bit of caution.
