Hello from North Carolina!

Welcome Art from the left coast in California!

Assuming the photo is accurate/the actual Rocket, do keep in mind that's an early-2013 model so it won't have the torque limiters removed in the first 3 gears. The other changes are cosmetic (twin white stripes for the flat black, black mirrors, black headlight cans, black radiator shroud, black "mud covers" near the rear shocks, black fork shields)

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying that the Rocket doesn't have enough power as it is, but I have seen some other Captains lamenting that they didn't know about the late-2013 changes until after the ink was dry!

You know, I was wondering about that. Thanks for the "Oh sh!t" moment. Several things come to mind:

1. I'm ok with that power.
2. I can use that as leverage at the bargaining table before I finish the financials.
3. That gives me something cool to do with my bike when I'm needing to chase the dragon a little faster.

I can turn anything into a positive. Happiness is a choice, brother!

Good idea, will save you some smacks in the head and maybe some punches in the ribs. Some of us don't train well, guess I'm not one of those trainable husbands. Scared the sheite out of my ol lady so bad, she got her own bike...:D

My wife is a little different. If she gets scared then she will never get back on the bike and she will worry about me while I'm on it. (That translates to grief) If I give her enjoyable rides, she'll be asking me to go riding. (That translates to more riding)

As far as I recall, TuneECU may not work on the later '13 models so what you get is what you get. The ECU is locked/tamper proof as I understand it. You'll be able to de-restrict the earlier model simply and it may in fact give you greater potential to get more out of it. As for the black bits, that's the easy part. Funny thing is that if all bear claws were black, people would be chroming them.

That's good to know. Thanks.

I personally like the chrome bear claw, radiator housing, lights, etc. Can't help it. I dig the bling. I think it's sexy with the matte black.

That's why God made chocolate and vanilla. Everybody likes something different...

I spoke with my dealer today regarding the restriction updates in the 2013s and my bike in particular. She informed me that my bike has had the torque limiters removed and she also verified that the ECU was locked. I was also informed that their dealership (Ray Price in Raleigh, NC) could tune and adjust the ECU but many of the smaller Triumph dealerships and shops cannot. She said that this was done to prevent folks from jacking up their bikes and then making a claim against their warranty.

I just thought that I would share this tidbit with you guys.

While I'm at it I want to give public props to my wife. When I told her that I wanted a Rocket 3 Roadster, a brute of a bike with the largest motor in the world, the only thing she asked me is, "what colors do they come in"?

Well at least somebody in the family had the good sense to buy the fast black one (like they come in any other color these days). Welcome to the site from Houston

Edit: And BTW...there is more combined knowledge on this site than any dealer anywhere has ever dreamed of

I know that's true. When I spoke to my dealer today I spoke to her armed with information and knowledge that I learned from this site. It allowed me to participate on a more even playing field. I wasn't just a guy who is buying a rocket. I was a guy that was very familiar with the beast.
