Gipro

I set it on 3 and still don't think it's made any difference. I'm thinking with the Jars and Power Commander maybe I already have everything it was going to change.

I now have added another Rocket to my stable. I purchase a used 2008 Tourer. It runs ok but, not even close to my standard Rocket. This beast needs something to wake it up. I'm thinking of trying a GIPRO. The only thing that's been added so far is D&D slip ons. I personally think it's going to take a set of Jars and a Power Commander or such.

Gipro atre just advances the timing back to where it should be in the first three gears
Triumph retarded the timing in the first three gears to tone down the power for the general public
If its hooked up right and on setting 3 the front wheel should come off the ground in first idling along about 3 or 4 miles an hour and just twist the throttle and the front end WILL come up .

Did someone say 3?

Had the Gipro w atre installed over the weekend and picked it up today. First just took it up and down the street in 1st and 2nd gears and didn't notice any improvement. Parked it, reset to 3 per the numerous forum "suggestions", and this is what I found:

Definitely a little more punch on the bottom as in twisting the throttle from 3000rpm in 1st gear. Front wheel didn't come off the ground as some report, but I am 280+ and I didn't really try very hard. Definitely jumped forward though. Didn't burn any rubber either, but don't want to. Wound up very fast and had more power in the upper rpm's such as 5000+. Where I really noticed this was in 2nd and 3rd, and although its not supposed to help 4th it seemed like it did. 5th too. Seemed like it had more power and wound up faster in all the gears. Going 70 or so and turning the throttle while going up a modest grade, not sure from what gear, it was up to 140+ and still strongly accelerating when I shut her down. Definitely got that "hang on" feeling! That alone was a big improvement. Couldn't stand the limiter.

I finally feel like the bike is the kind of machine I wanted wnen I bought it used and stock last year. I've had a few conversations with performance specialists and each discussion has eventually come around to not sacrificing rideability. I haven't experienced anything close to that, but this was the first that I've felt a hint of the power that this machine could potentially make and that it could get away from one if not careful. Much better.

Cool Natural,
glad it does it for you.
280 and no wheelie huh?
That's a hundred over me, but I'd think the Rocket could stand that
and not even notice an extra hundred.

I think you might not have twisted the wick far enough,
give it another go when the desire hits ya,
I'd like to know for sure cause mine comes up almost to easily.

At least when it's on mode 3 it does,
in mode 1 it'll squall the tire till I let off the fun handle.
yea, I ride in mode 1 most of the time myself,
most of my riding is with my wife on her Rocket,
and I don't want to set a bad example in front of her, she's a safe rider now,
rarely getting over 120 MPH and I don't want to be a bad influence.
Then when I'm alone, I don't need to impress me,
so no use in jacking around over 120 myself..
mine sees mode 3 on "special occasions", but mostly it stays in mode 1.

You sure got that right.

Yeah, I'll give it another twist of the throttle probably this weekend. Haven't had a front wheel up since my dad's RD400 back in the 70's and I admit to being a little intimidated by the idea;). I will probably set it on 1 for the mountains but man it's a lot more fun on 3:D.

agree there.
3 is definitely the fun number.
Rode mine all day today with the wife on her red one,
so I had to keep mine in 1...
Still better than riding with a bunch of harleys
where you can't never get out of third gear...
At least she rides her rocket....
They poke along on their high dollar potato bikes...
