Apologies if this has been discussed before - feel free to give me a virtual slap and link to the relevant thread if it has :)

How do you get the back wheel off the ground? My bike lift will slide under the bike and jack it up, but the balance of the bike means that the front lifts up much higher than the back - to the extent that the front whel is maybe 10" off the ground and the back is still firmly on terra firma. I'm reluctant to go much higher with this jack as I'm worried the bike will become unstable.

I've seen the R3 specific lift on ebay (the guy in Sheffield) - anyone use this, and if so does it lif the back high enough to remove the wheel? Any other alternatives in the UK?

My curent lift is like this:

Jack under the rear of the engine and cat box , should lift even then , just a question of finding the balance point .
I would use a few pieces of wood to help protect things .

You properly laugh but this is the way I did it. Did'nt want to lift under the catbox either. So I invented a Gyro Gearloos sytem with some weights to keep the frontwheel down. Not a pretty seigth, but i works

really I just flipped mine upside on its seat and removed the wheel.

Of course i'm trying out for the all steroid olympics this year

seriously though, the counterbalance ( ghetto weights) is actually a good Idea, I use a sheet of thick plywood under my jack with eybolts and tie down strap the bike in place, that way I know its not going on its side or any direction I don't want
