What's the lead time on destruction of 2nd gear for those who've experienced it? Bear in mind my bike has 45k km on it without any hint of a tranny problem. So if it was 'manufacturer error' I would expect it to have gone pear-shaped well before now.
My riding style hasn't changed in 25yrs of riding and like Paul already noted - in line 4cyl japanese bikes run similar components and I've never had a transmission issue in hundreds of thousands of kilometres on those bikes.
