Garmin Gauges ecoroute

Aight...dumbass question time.

1. Does the Power Commander V already interface with the OBD2 and therefore wouldn't work with the ecoroute setup? Has anyone used the LCD display for the PCV as a RPM gauge, and is it fast enough to be useful?

2. Does the RPM gauge using the Ecoroute setup provide a useful function or is it too slow to react as well?

I REALLY need a tach for this carpentered R3T. I've bounced off the rev limiter near 9k a few times now and I'd like to finetune where I'm shifting. I also need GPS. I'd just get the Zumo if the ecoroute isn't going to be viable or useful.
 
PCV and ecoRoute

The Power commander V does not interface with the OBD connector. I had both the PCV and ecoRoute installed at one time. Did not like the PCV so it was removed and I went back to my Wayne Tripp Dyno tune.
 
Ecoroute

Hi teck, The RPM gauge on the Ecoroute works almost instantly.
It works just as fast as if you had it hooked up to Tune ECU or Tuneboy and were using the RPM gauge on them.
The RPM gauge on the Ecoroute has both a needle gauge and a digital RPM # readout.
Plus it has another 8 or 9 other functions like water temp,vacuum,voltage,throttle position,engine load,air intake temp,etc etc
 
I have been thinking about this for a while now, I want a tach more than the rest, this R3T is the first bike I have ever had without a tach.

What do you not like about the PCV? I haven't dived into tuning at all yet; Bob tuned mine at his shop....it's got the tuneboy setup as well as a PCV....and I've no idea yet anything about the tuning of it. I do know I've got detonation at part throttle lead in at lowish rpms under load(think moderate acceleration at highway speeds); go to full throttle and the marbles get quiet in the can. Need to play with it some, methinks.
 
This is one way to do it On a R3T (now i have a rev counter)

You can use OBD2 blue tooth ....... get Torque app for android phone or Tablet ....
cost

£99 Tablet (which you can use for other things) 7" or you could get bigger
Total £109
Make or buy a mount for the tablet or phone

if you have a phone you just need the OBD2 plug and mount


Then you are up and running with all then info on a screen you need .
I think it will maps every thing and download later

I also had the Autotune installed and was using Hanso's table as a base map. I found that after accepting the changes, over time, I was noticing some dead spots in throttle response. It ran good but not as good as with my Wayne Tripp tune. I thought by installing both I might be able to improve my gas mileage which was and is currently around 28. Expensive experiment :kk:
