106 would not be a "stroker kit", factory they are a 106
Lloyds has a cam package (which I have in my XC) and then he has a 116 which is a big bore kit...either way the XC is a fantastic machine. I love my XC...cruise control and a nice radio makes lots of smiles by the mile.

the one I road had the lloydz 106 stroker kit install does not void the factory warranty and OMG !!!!!! and this thing has it all.. was very impressed let me tell you triumph needs to step up very soon and start making full tour like this one .....


not going any where this year I will give triumph time but they need to step up soon..and if any one has heard of any thing please say something would love to stay with triumph been my bike for many years but I want a real tour for me and my wife ...

Guzzi are nice but I swear they sound like they're coming apart when at low RPMs

Thats perfect Jesse, covers the sound of my gas escaping . I may have to start carrying a boom box when walking to cover the sound. Don't know that the smell can be masked but sharing is part of the fun.

Initially I liked the 2300cc engine and the engineering of the Rocket. Now after 33K miles I find flaws in the engineering so if I must walk or work on a bike it might as well be a cute Italian chick instead of an English blunderbuss . Really, I am about to mark another birthday and I thought the Rocket would be my last bike but..............where I bought the house also happens to have a MG dealer closer than the Triumph dealer. Still lookin at used Gold Wings though

I have 91k miles on my Rocket and I like it just as much now as I did when I bought it new in february 05. There are a lot of great bikes out there, including the victory's and guzzi's, but if I was going to spend the money on a new bike it would be a difficult decision to go with something completely different, or just get the Carpenter kit for the Rocket instead. 240+ hp for 10k is really hard to pass up. And you would have a bike like no other, including other less endowed Rockets.

Why would anyone need 240 hp? Why do we need 140 hp? WTF did we buy the Rocket in the first place? Because we are insane. I am not sure if I want to go sane. I may just opt for even worse insanity. God help me.

I'm right there with you, Ugarte.. I'm pushing 73k miles.. and for the price of a used Sportster, I could send my bike up to Carpenter for a rebuild.. Something I've been debating.. might have to wait 'til these teenagers quit taking all my extra cash though!

Don't take life too seriously ,you'll never get out alive anyway.They still ( BMW) were able to get 50 more mph out of it.That's faster than my Busa. This is a nut and bolt issue Triumph had the same problem awhile back with the Bonneville and Thunderbird Sport. Maybe if they stop buying parts from China things would go a lot smoother.. What motorcyle manufacturer doesn't have recalls these days. Some time i wonder if this forum is where riders come instead of the land of the misfit toys... the long and short of it is just like todays music,"they don't write 'em or make them like that anymore"

guys this is my beef..with the the tour...and i really think triumph needs to step soon ..or some rider are going to move on ..and when I take a long trip do i need to carry ..
a lifter shaft and a detent spring with me ???and all the materials to get the job done?? as I have read some you do...I know any thing can happen on the road ...but in the future as me and the wife head out on a 3 week road trips and this is our plans ..we wanted a bike that could this and believed the r3t was the bike for the job...now I don't feel that same way ..yes I know it all can be fix and many have lots of trouble free mile...but in back of mind it there..is going to break down on us ..I really should not feel that way..

and when I looked at the victory yes it cost more but you got so much more and no i could not do it my self ..here's one thing both front and rear floor boards are adjustable ...some others heated seat and grips,6 speed tran's,a place to plug in droid,5 or 6 different wind shield to pick from I can take the rear trunk off and on in 30 seconds ..the saddle bags are bigger ..they had vents you can open and close built right into the crash bars ..I can go on and on..but this is the stuff that triumph needs to be looking at ..
i know they can do it look at the new trophy ...

I say its time for them to step up and do the same thing to R3T but please don't make it a gold wing

Yes, they need to do something soon. I'm 1-2 years from getting a new bike and I'm looking for something similar to the Vic Cross Tour or Kawa Voyager. I like the fixed fairing of the Kawa better than the handlebar mount on the Vic.

Factory cruise control and audio are a must.
