if the tab is broken off would a litle friction welding using a electric screwdriver not be able to repair it?

To be honest Frans,nothings actually broken off,it's just the previous owner or a over eager service guy has mangled the connecting rod so I have really no idea what it originally should look like.A new one is reluctantly on its way.
