You must be a newbie, Amigo.
This has been around for a few years at least. Tis VERY viable and the best combo with the rear ExedraMax rear tire. I search out twisties all around the US and guilty as frequent hooner.
Been through 4 of the Road 5 anthe best is generalyd currently run Road 6 on both of my Rockets. Many have tried these tires and I know of no complaints. Not cheap, but the best never is!
If you are not a granny riider, you will surely feel the improvement and thank me.
 
I love the Michelin Road series of tyres, have been using them for years on the other bikes.
But why the suggestion to mount a rear tyre backwards if used on the front? I'm aware that the tread patterns run seemingly backward to each other when comparing front to rear but I thought the direction of rotation (as stamped on the tyre) was important to ensure correct water dispersion when riding in the rain.
 
Been riding mostly consistently/full time for 30+ years thank you, I may have heard of this kind of thing in passing but never paid attention to it or remember.
Anyway that solves my dilemma and I will look into ordering the rear Road 6 for my front.
 
Cupping is not a tire problem, its poor suspension setup and or tire pressures that leads to cupping. Tire will not scallop if bike setup is correctly.
 
Rear are laminated reverse of front and have thicker tread due to the engine torque to it from the engine. It will work fine mounted normal, but wear and mileage will be reduced.
 
the 5 is a little shorter
i need all the clearance i can get.
 
Stock front is a 150/80R17. I don't see that available in either the road 5 or 6. I assume you use the 150/70R17? Turbo, what do you mean the 5 is shorter? They're both available in 150/70.

Seems they are quite a bit cheaper than either the Avon Cobras or the Metzler Cruistec. Revzilla has the road 5 for $222 and the road 6 for $263. The Avon is $348 and the Metzler is $321.
