First ride my Carpenter Rocket

imo the rocket or at least the roadster model is not a cruiser (though it does everything a cruiser does only better) and its not a sportbike or sport tourer, but a naked musclebike, so the fairing should be a minimalistic type one. like the bits on a benelli tnt.

if i was to have a fairing built and i probably will some day, id start with what is already available and looks good, and build from it. we have a sportscreen (angry roundy one like perdurabos, also seen on carbondryjapan), chin spoiler (chris in UK makes them) and trims on the radiator.

i'd take the angry sports screen and make it a bit wider and have it come down around the sides of the lights.
i'd take the chin spoiler and extend it to make a belly pan/chinspoiler, and have the belly pan come up around the sides a bit to guide the wind off your feet/pegs.
i;d take the rad trims and replace them with a chunkier version that splits the air to either go into the rad or out wide past the knees. and it should compliment or almost link in with the screen above and the chin spoiler/bellypan below.

i spend a lot of time fantasising about this stuff

I like all of this! Been thinking about these myself. Really like how chin spoiler accents theae bikes. Never found anyone who makes them tho.

how the minds meet!!

my winter project about the fairing goes along those exact ideas so sketch something for me I don't draw too well .. my plan is to use sheets of pink foam and build layers upon layers , cut and sand as I go along till the shape is what i like not too high not too wide just enough to cut the fall cold wind from face and hand when doing 80 mph , also extending the belly pan backward and see if something can be done about the ugliest rad ever mounted. I wish I could buy a honda RUNE rad, now that is a beauty look and you will see a rad that looks like no other nicely curved with vertical lines like a fiftie!!

ok back to earth and starting this around end of november

Reckon Harley V-Rod radiator looks better than the Runes. Why not fit a radiator off Speed Triple or Daytona if you dislike the stock RIII one so much ???

simple arithmetic .. surface to cool and maintain temperature for 2300cc engine is not the same as a 1200cc the only one coming close is 1800cc and that so far is the rune /goldwing engine

Not so much that I dislike ours so much,
as it just looks like a barn door hanging out there.
if it was more pleasing to the eye, that wouldn't hurt my feelings any,
that's one reason I like the pic of the red rocket,
it incorporated it into the flow and lines of the bike.
Right now it hangs out front like an afterthought of the designers.

You guys are looking at two different things. What yer looking at when a Rune rolls up isnt the radiator, that's a grill and shroud. The radiator itself wont look any better, if not worse. (There's actually two, an upper and a lower.)

Goldwing is completely different because it has two radiators as well, but they dont sit behind the forks. They sit to the side of the engine and are routed air from the front, then, well.... radiating out from both sides.

regardless triumph engineers could have done a better job of integrating the rad into a flow rather than just hanging this pizza box smack in the middle and whatever the rune has for rad, the lines are well though of be it a grill or not and the trim well designed
I have a standing offer to buy such thing on their forum who knows I may be lucky some day
