First Bad News for new Rocket: oil leaks

I remember having a similar experience when I bought my 2006 Rocket and thought it had an oil leak - it turned out to be the cosmoline they coat the engines with in the factory to protect them during shipping.

That was the word i was looking for...but, i understand they dont do that now...more like electrical grease or something...lets hope its just as easy as that.

White spirits all around and blow dry with air gun and it was fixed. Made me frown for a while tho...

I talked to the service writer at the dealer today and he said one of the new Rockets was leaking oil. He said he heard reports of others leaking too. Apparently there is a pin hole in the engine casting. We’ll see how they fix this one.

Ok the good news is you haven't bought one yet !!!

I've had 3 first model year cars and they all had problems that were resolved in later years.
You'd think I would learn.
Maybe this time, I wait ;-)

You are right its amazing we haven't heard more on this between this site and farce book.

At least it’s nothing major. This is a minor hiccup IF it is true. Fixing it isn’t, but it’s a machine, they break, we fix them, and we all live happily ever after. Unless your machine is a 737 MAX, this will be a minor thing.

There were a few casting porosity issues with the 1st gen too. But I feel it was an outlier and not widespread.

You know where several are sitting due to weather, and no time to ride. Just ho load one up

It is not the TFC. It is one of the other models. They have four at the dealer and one does leak , under pressure due to a hole in the casting. I’m sure that one will not sell right away. From what I’ve heard the dealer should discover a problem bike before it is delivered to a customer.

I’m not terribly worried, yet. I would expect Triumph to deal seriously if the premium line TFC was delivered leaking oil. They are quite proud $$$$ of this bike.
