Engine rebuild story... continued.

Will they bolt up to a black engine? And what would it take to convince you to part with one?
I am pretty sure they are interchangable
It would cost $300 to ship to you plus what i paid for it
Can you take the worn head to a engine machine shop tp see if they would fix it?

The ozzy dollar is only worth about .75 cents US so it might be viable to send over

I would drop the oil pan and expose the mains/rods and inspect their bearings before I spent any money on a head.
Oh I'm not trying to replace the head on the engine with the messed up camshaft journals. I needed a new head for my bike that has a small crack in it, so I bought an engine on Ebay for 300 bucks hoping it had a good head. It didn't.

So I've gotten the front and back covers off, and the torsional dampner removed. Everything looks fine, the engine turns smoothly. Once I get into the transmission, I'll be able to see if that was the cause. If I can't find any issues, what do you guys think could have caused the messed up camshafts and journals? the damaged parts were on opposite corners of the camshafts. Bad milling job? improper torque?

Oil feed to cam journals has a restrictor at the top of the oil gallery in head, I opened mine out a little (after shimming pump spring) to increase flow as stock it is just sufficient IMHO
Only takes a bit of swarf to block it & stop oil reaching cam.

Tri Rocket is on track, check if the oil gallery up the back of the motor is clear, the rest of the engine may be fine. Best way to fix that head is to get some one to machine .015" of the head and the cam ladder and bolt it back together, then line bore the cam tunnels again. The silver head will fit the same. Use Harley Twin Cam 96 cube engine paint circa 2007-9. Prep the head well, super clean, and preheat the head to around 35deg C and give it three light coats. Add the second coat a few minutes after the first dries and same again for the third. Presto black head.
