That could explain the bit toasted white wire, and maybe some more toasty wires... in my MG I had a short circuit with the cigarette lighter lamp. Cause a LOT of troubles in the entire wiring behind the dash.
Maybe a good idea to check the wiring from horn switch to main harness.

The horn currently works quite well, so I'm thinking that wiring is probably okay.

To be sure that the bike's battery is out of the equation, you have to leave it out of the bike while connected to the car's battery.

I had the same problem, see the corroded wire in the photo. The purple wire comes from the fuse box to power the tacho and speedo.

Yeah you can tell the quality just ain’t there on that roadster, but on the touring model it’s a different story, from the hand painted pinstripes to the professional job on harness it’s just the Cadillac the gmc the Lincoln of the rocket family, what can you do
