Diff drain plug

Well I took the diff out of the bike and took it apart to get the bolt out and put a new one in. Only after doing this did I discover you cannot take this apart.

Can You take it apart or not ?

Glad it's sorted out...I'll think twice about my approach when the time comes.

I took it apart and put it back together, it was a straight forward job, just have to be very careful when separating the 2 halves. I used two 2'' scrapers to pry the two pieces apart. taking care not to mar the mated faces. doing this very slowly,and a fraction at a time all around.. be very careful as there is a large rubber O ring between the two halves.( Oil seal ). try to put it back together in the same position as it came apart. I would not hesitate to do this again if I had to. I have put over 16000 miles on her since doing this without mishap.
There are no instructions in the manual or torque settings for the bolts, have to guess, good luck.

True enuff, I still took it apart, got the broken bolt out and put it back together again and been riding for more than 16000 trouble free miles.

I am looking for the exact size of that thing. Would like to replace it with something else.

Tried to get the broken bolt out. Guess what happend ?
This thing is now inside the diff. housing !

How I have to take the whole housing apart.

But first I need a motorcycle stand to raise the rear wheel, which one will do ?

This might be a better plug !? It is M10 x 1.5

Got the bolt out... what a pain. Had to take the final drive apart. Hope it does not leak.
