Developing Kill issue

My 2010 touring did the same thing. I grounded a relay temporarily for testing. Pulled the tank up, I think the harness had (has) a short somewhere. Went to the manual to find out the manual I ordered with the new 2010 was for a roadster. Two different systems, and connectors at the ECM. Ordered the correct manual, but never fixed it before it became a parts bike. It was a safety switch, or clutch switch, can't remember. The tilt switch, stand switch all checked ok. Mine would start if you turned the handlebars just right, hence the short in the harness thinking. Took the key switch apart, all was good. Keep a jumper with you

Update: I think we have figured out the issue. First, the side stand kill switch h works fine when it is engaged. But engaging it seems to be the problem. The rod is now 3mm shorter than new. When I raise the kick stand, the rod doesn't disengage as quick as it should. The whole switch assembly is being replaced.
The next issue is excessive play in the side stand. Evidently, when one rides there bike a lot, the kick stand is used a lot, who knew? It too will be replaced.
