I want to suggest since you have it open and the clutch out you should put the newer style lifter piece in her. I am not sure if you have ever changed it so if you post a picture of it I can identify which one you have. As for the gasket its up to you I use Hylomar Blue on mine as if I need to open it again I can save the gasket. Some people use a little oil or grease which also holds it in place on the cover or the engine which ever you choose to to hang it on first. I hang it on the engine case then mount the cover as I am collecting the lifter piece with the lifter shaft. You can do it dry also.

Thanks Warp. I'll look at it tonight. Can't really tell on the pictures I have now but I would lean towards the "old model"
Isn't that part of the upgrade kit?

No its not but it is a a change that I first noticed in the 2011 touring. After I was sent one instead of what I ordered. IMO it is better as the larger head does not waller around as much as the old style. If your has a silver motor then the pressure plate, lifter piece and bearing are totally different.
I'll check with the dealership, if they have some in stock I'll certainly change it, maybe I can rush it and get it within a week. Otherwise I'm afraid the ol one is going back on. I will look closely for stress marks but I can say there was no wear marks on it at all. Everything in there looks brand new, not bad for 86000km. Clutch still 75%-82% depending of plate.
I definitely appreciate the advice!

Id send you one but the last person who tuned my bike fried it and the lifter shaft so I used it. I think I have another but its a 1000 miles away in a completed 2011 clutch pack. minus the clutch basket which is now a new billet forged MTC clutch basket still on the shelf at home. I should have put it in but oh well its only a 2.5 hour job to change. Unless your smashing a quart of corn
On a side note there is new springs in the update kit if you have one I would stick them in.
