Yes I have no problems with doing any work myself !Ahh right mate...well you know your bike better than all of us here and with this in mind it may be time to investigate..ide like to say keep on riding and see how it goes but iff summit failed and put you back to base camp ide be so sorry..found this link for you if you fancy tackling the simple job yourself

I changed oil and it made a big difference in the shifting now its supper smooth and slick

Wow. I am starting to feel like one of the lucky ones. Bike shifts better now than when new. After I clean the bikes may have to sober up and hit the Casino.

Update ! Spoke to my mate last night who is a triumph technician .
He says that he has seen this problem in a few rockets where the gear lever return spring has lost its tension . Not due to breakage but more down to the quality of the spring used in some bikes causing it to become slack !
Not a huge issue at present , but when all tension is lost the weight of the gear lever and linkage can overcome the detent spring on road bumps and cause the bike to jump out of gear .
So , new spring , circlip and cover gasket on order !

It occurred to me and he was in agreeance that if this occured at speed or under heavy acceleration , the gearbox issues that some owners experience could be caused by this very problem ? Not definitive but something to chew on !
It would stand to reason then that the same lever issue you are experiencing would be prevalent before a tranny failure...be interesting to take a straw pole on this one. Certainly didn't happen that way for me

Bear in mind this is speculation of a possible outcome , which to my mind would make perfect sense ! I am a bit OCD when it comes to my bikes and insist on knowing more if something isn't perfect . Owners who are not mechanically minded could possibly miss this issue and I'm sure there may be others here that will dismiss this theory , but for a Hinkley trained technician to concur that this small defect could possibly lead to a catastrophic gearbox failure carries weight imho.

THATS a new one BUT possible and its an easy fix we have not seen that with any of the ROCKETS that came through the shop or have we heard of any with the problem

I fully accept that , but the issue on mine is a real one and definitely was no surprise to my mate . Bear in mind my bike is a 2010 with only 10000 miles . I am dubious about it being able to make the bike jump out of gear whilst under acceleration , but can see it as being perfectly feasible whilst cruising or throttling down ! It is after all , a heavy shift lever and linkage . Especially if one also has a heel shifter .
