Daymaker Type Headlights (Chinese Copies)

Small question: Do these headlights have a "E-Number" so we can use in Switzerland or Germany or this some China-made stuff that will make the guy in the MOT/TÜV revolt?
There are no markings whatsoever on the ones I've got. I'm assured they're legal in UK and having read the regs I'm inclined to believe them. Basically if they don't dazzle oncoming traffic then they're okay. See my other submission in the day maker thread.

My little experience with buying Chinese is you get what you pay for.
Apple and Android phones and many other 'legit' products made in China. There may be some dodgy products but there's a hell of a lot of good stuff out there. To be honest, a huge amount of electronic goods are made by the big companies but in China by the same companies so they maximise their profits.

That is valid - for products designed and manufactured EXACTLY to that OEM specs.
The problem is when you have a company (like this, frankly) that is NOT simply fabricating for the OEM but producing a 'clone' of a device deigned by that original company.
So you are really at the mercy of how well they reverse engineered the product and how accurately they chose to follow those original manufacturer's criteria.
You can often have a product that 'appears' similar to the original, but falls short in the actual performance because they are not driven by requirement to meet those original specs, especially if it adds cost to do so.
With some products it could be subtle, others much more obvious.

Now - I'm not making any commentary on the performance (or the 'quality') of these particular lights - I don't have them so that would be wholly inappropriate.
I am just saying that you can NOT say these are the same (i.e. in performance and quality standards) as those developed and engineered by JW Speaker. And you cannot use this 'generalization' of parts being manufactured in China to a developer's specification to be a valid example.
Nor am I saying 'they are likely to be crap' - just dismissing the argument that the ONLY cost saving is because they are manufactured in China - having much lower development costs (i.e. copying someone else proprietary design) and then how closely you try to match that design, will also have a bearing on the cost.

Would I try them? At that price, actually I would - but I wouldn't be kidding myself (or trying to convince anyone else) that these are comparable to JW Speaker.

Well until enough of the "clone" lights are tried out, we won't know if they are a suitable lower cost alternative. Any of you guys who do dare to try them, please post your results.
