Sorry but Cost was never a Factor in me decideing to go darkside I got sick of Powerrsliding every time I got a little agressive for the ssoft putty like tyre Metz forced on us and it has only been in Recent times that Bridgestone has released the Excedra MAX which I will try next time round but if it starts sliding when I get into it, it Will get thrown in the tip and I will stick to a Darkside as I can get as agressive as I like without it steping out all the time, AS I SAID price WAS Never a Issue FOR ME, It is all All about SAFETY

i didnt single anyone out and i know some folks went darkside for different reasons, im just sayin from my observations MANY have gone dark because of the replacement cost of the rear tire. if im mistaken then im mistaken.

Just too add to my last post .... If I had to pay $450 for a car tyre I would without hesitation!! I spend $1,000.00 every time my car needs tyres and it ain't no fancy speed machine just a good ol Ford XLS (sports suspention std six engine not the higher performance hi comp version) ute with a 4 litre six cyclinder in it but the point is I like good traction and I drive my car similar to the way I ride my bike...And expect everything to be sweet I watch my tyre pressures an as soon as the tyres are down to the wear bars they are of I never risk my life on canvas showing tyres and only buy the best tyre I can afford
I like drive fast and ride even faster so I don't take risks with my grip if I have an acco it will be because I f##ked up!! Not the tyres

Show us a picture of your Viper. Mine's the one on the left (since sold). Still co-own the Comp Coupe in the middle.

Yeah they will drive you into the poor house. Initial cost is only the start. The Comp Coupe is on its third motor, but we raced it for over 5 years. It now dynos at 630 HP.

Checked out the videos, I really like the black/silver, very subtle. Here's my favorite shot of the Comp Coupe, I've posted it before but its worth a repeat.

If you try the BS soon and hate it, I'll take it off your hands as I'll be replacing mine in the next little while. I have one sitting at Joe's you can put on if you want (ie do a Kiwi ;)).

Thanks for the offer but I will wait till I wear out the federal, I am enjoying the federal to much to waste it:cool:

I have 22k miles on my bike as of yesterday, it blistered the original at 3000 miles and would have probably killed me had I not caught it. The replacement Metz went 3500 and blistered again. The next two Avons got about 6,000+ each. I have had the General Altimax HP now for 3,000 miles and here are my pros and cons:

Pros

Better traction taking off and braking- had a close braking call this year that would have got me on the mc tire.
Excellent traction in the rain-no comparison
Smoother ride on touring rides
Still looks new

Cons

At stop lights with worn areas there is noticeable lean
Same with sunken areas in the road
More Oversteer
Will have to remove to grease axle because of extended life.

Tell you what. You come up when I'm getting the BS fitted and we get Joe to swap rear wheels. We can "test" the tyres for a week or so, you can be as agressive as you want and we're not risking each others bikes. I'll ride down for the swap back. Down the mountain on the federal should let me know how it really feels. I can provide an objective review of a car tyre and you can see if the BS is up to your riding style.
