Well I have not sat around eating dinner with very many top executives of major corporations but I do spend a lot of time riding the Rocket X. The car tire works for me and am very happy with it. I guess this makes me some kind of moron in some people's eyes but really do not care one way or the other. When you start to insult a person over his own personal preference it is going a bit too far. One thing to talk about the pros and cons it is another to refer to a person as if he or she is less intelligent just because they do not agree or would like to see some hard facts on accidents cause by using a car tire. So far all I have seen is the possibility but not much on hard facts that are fully documented.

Clints and Phils photo collections gave me a very hard fact ! !

for the 10 millionth time, post one accident caused by a car tire, the blah blah blah is not credible and if you dont post one all your credibility about the issue will be as invalid as your comments about 100$ mc tires, you beating everybody with your loaned motorcycle, you been a drag racer you riden every bike ever made etc etc etc

last reply from me, i have no dog in this fight do not run a ct have never thought about running a ct the nay sayers yell the loudest;(i now know where the pig headness comes from)i read #155 different correct me if i am wrong but he was asking for some sort of proven proof,please go back and read my first opening statement on this post before replying ,besides im just trying to get ALL facts before buying my next tire soon.question for you:if a ct is so dangerous does this mean you will not ride with one who rides darkside?

breeze, I will generally ride with anyone that I know to be a proficient rider. If someone has a CT mounted on the rear and if they were directly in front of me by one or two positions, I would ensure that I maintained a wider gap or margin of safety between the Darksider and myself (wider than when following a bike on MTs) in order to have a bit more reaction time to take any potentially necessary evasive or corrective action. Also, those fatter and flatter tires have a much greater propensity for kicking up pebbles and other road debris, which trailing riders should be on the lookout for. The only really noticeable paint blem to my bike's finish was caused by a stone chip that was launched into the upper radiator shroud by a bike in front of me sporting a CT. That particular rider's machine was kicking up so much crap, I quickly realized that changing positions within the pack I was riding in on that occasion was a good idea and I did so, post haste, in response to that weird additional hazard.

Steering and handling for a bike with a car tire on the rear requires considerably more rider input than does the same bike equipped with a motorcycle tire. The Dark Side meat simultaneously increases rolling resistance and, specifically when on flat and level pavement, the extra drag and friction of the larger, flat contact patch and very different tread design can really exacerbate these deficiencies in responsiveness to various road or other hazardous conditions/scenarios. In plain language, the car tire, simply due to its inherently different design characteristics from a MT, will cause both rider and machine to suffer slowed or slower reaction times. It's simply the Laws of Physics at work.

sonny, I don't see how pegging someone as being either parsimonious, unfamiliar or unacquainted with certain information and/or unrealistically obstinate are personal insults, nor do I understand your implication that such assertions or assignations of said characteristics toward others rises anywhere even remotely close to the level of insult that actuallybeing called a moron is.

I'd bet my castle that you and any others here know much more than I do and any others here do on certain subjects. So what? That, in and of itself neither makes me inferior, nor the "other" superior.

One could be parsimonious because his is penurious.

You could apply these philosophically too. One who lacks a type of knowledge may be penurious with regard to said knowledge. He may also be parsimonious if he is unwilling to acquire said knowledge.

That's nice. Not much into twenty dollar words as a matter of fact had to go look it up. You have to remember that I do live in Oklahoma and work as aircraft welder. So either way I still like the car tire and understand the hazards involved. Will I go back to running a motorcycle tire? NO. Changing out a worn tire every three months is a *****. Yes we ride that many miles per month. Do i feel handicapped having a car tire on the back verse a motorcycle tire? Not really. Been riding bikes for a while and the car tire is only a problem while riding on uneven pavement. Most of my riding is done on the Highway. That is where the car tire shines. The traction is great and the smooth ride is fantastic. I keep a good eye on my tire pressure and condition of the tires due to the fact that half of my ride time is done in the late morning with little or no traffic which means if I bite it the odds on getting help is not going to happen. Pretty much on my own for a 57 mile run heading home. Do I worry about the tire coming off the rim? NO. Do I get concerned when the rain turns to ice or snow,you bet. The car tire handles the snow and ice very well. Riding the bike even in the rain the car tires traction is more secure and allows me to ride vice driving a car. When I bought the Rocket I bought it to ride. Not one to park it just because it's a bit cold outside or wet. The Rocket X is the first bike I have owned that can take the way I ride , the car tire just makes it so much better. No twenty dollar words but then again they are not needed. Pretty much spelled it out in simple english.

Well now!!!!!!! You just brought up a whole new reason not to run a car tire. Because if it increases rolling resistance, that fact means that it also will take more energy from the entire drivetrain, including the engine, so it will undoubtedly cause the engine to need to use more fuel. Just like larger tires on a bicycle increasing rolling resistance cause the human engine to have to work much harder. So if the motor is getting worse fuel economy then over time, you are spending more money, negating the money you saved on the cheaper car tire, while at the same time, increasing your chances of a catastrophic injury from the tire rolling off of the wheel bead that it was not intended to be mated up to............. @-;!$?@#€~*¥+{>
