drjay9051 talk to Fingers. Sounds like he has some foreknowledge you will need. Maybe he will let you ride his a bit before you buy. Where ever you decide to buy, take your checkbook with you when you do the dealer test ride. You are not going to want to go home without the Rocket. I'm 58 5' 7" 200 lbs. I have owned over 36 bikes in 44 years. I owned 9 bikes at one time. Since buying my Rocket in 2007 I have been selling off the other bikes. Down to just 2 now. I don't ride the other bike more than 200 miles a year. Getting ready to sell it too. I only want to ride the Rocket.

I've been riding 45 years and always had lithe sports bikes. Test rode a Roadster in 2014 as I wanted something different.

As you say sitting on it it felt a bit intimidating as did the first few yards as I drove off. About 10 seconds later the big grin locked in and i loved it.

Absolutely awesome. Take the test ride and you'll see what we all mean

As we here are all hooked on R3s for varying reasons, my thoughts can be narrowed down to two words " Do it". On the serious side I had an escorted test too when on my very first R3 ride. What sold me was the lunatic sales guy jumping through an amber light and taking off like a cat on a hot tin roof. I did not know my way around that place so I did not want to lose him. I was not familiar with the bike enough to drop a cog as quickly as I would have on my Z13, so I just gave it the berries in the gear I was in. The direct result was the big girl launching with that growl that gives us the stupid grin. Bought it then an there. They handle well for a big girl and can be improved with the right gear. All the best with your decision making, hope you choose to get a stupid grin too. Chris

I am 60 also and same height weight and it's a great ride for me.
The best bike ever , that I have owned period.
I did however get the lower seat made by Corbin it helped me a lot to place both feet firmly on the road .
You will not be disappointed !!

Both feet flat on the ground is overrated.
The Rocket is too big and heavy to adequately back pedal up much of a hill even with a 36' inseam.
One is all you should need at a stop.
NEVER decrease your rear suspension travel!

I have owned a Suzuki gs1100. A Honda Vtx 1800, and a Suzuki M109r. I really liked them all, but I love my Rocket 3! Don't worry about handling, little muscle needed with Oem tires. Just go with the Avon/Exedra Max combo when you make your tire change, no more muscling needed.

Considering a timed ride and under controls might not be the most enjoyable ride for a rocket. The difference is your on a ROCKET. I have never rode a bike like it. 5 minutes and you will be hooked if you fit the bike. More smiles and holding your breath than anything.... Oh ya welcome!
