Cold Hand- yup just one!

Cool hand Luke .......

Anyway, I just came in from a long ride in 49 degree weather 80-90 mph hwy, and was thinking about this thread while out there. I have heated grips and decent gloves and the only thing that got cold was the index finger on both hands.

I LOVE heated grips! If you don't have them, you should. :)

I was wearing full face helmet, bare-ass chaps, tennis shoes, armored leather jacket and gloves. The only thing heated are the grips, I get alot of comfort just from my hands being hot. A battery heated vest under my leathers would probably allow me to ride the 40 miles to work in 30 degree weather. I do have a very tall wind screen which helps alot, those lower deflectors would probably help too. I should get some of those.

Perhaps I should just bag the heated gloves! I have heated grips but I can't feel them through the gloves!

Just be careful with the R3T heated grips. From a recent discussion on the Triumphrat site apparently they are different than the heated grips for the Standard and Classic models....the description of "cheaply made" comes to mind when remembering the discussion.

I thought about heated grips, but we just don't have *that* many cold days to justify the cost. I bought some new gloves that are working pretty well for me. They're the Triumph "Action" gloves. They're wind & water resistent and I can definitely tell a difference between them and the First Gear leather gloves I was using. I'd say my new gloves would be good down to around 35-40 degrees. Frankly, I don't think any glove is going to help below that temp unless it was heated.

The big is breaking the wind. That's the killer, not the actual temp. I put the accessory handguards on my Tiger. Again, it's wired for heated grips too but the cost is kind of high so I figured for a $100 I'd give the hand guards a try. That was a smart move as they work great. I took it out last weekend when it was barely 30 degrees and my hands didn't get cold. I was wearing my new gloves. Between them and having the wind protection of the guards, I was quite comfortable. My neck, OTOH, was pretty cold as I forgot to put on my fleese neck collar. :)

Heck, I use the heated grips all season. They work great for damp summer nights or just for when you feel a little chilly. You never know where a longer trip will take you, down in a cool valley or like our trip to Canada. The temp changed quite a bit going up and down the hills.

Oh, I definitely think I'd like the heated grips. Molinoman has them on his Rocket and I rode his bike a 100 miles or so a few weekends ago as we traded bikes since I was still trying to decide between a Standard Rocket and the Thunderbird and he also wanted to ride a R3T since that bike is on his radar for a next bike. I'm just a cheap bastard. lol
