:DI have had my car tire for a few months and im happy, the big test was last week at RAA in Arkansas, there were curves that you had to take at 10mph or less, i rode 600 miles which out of those at least
350 were curves of all sizes and shapes, that just reassured that i made a good decision to go darkside:):)Has anyone had regrets about going dark??:)

I did but not because of curves, it did very well. We have a big crown on the farm to market roads around here where I mostly ride and the car tire had me leaning all the time just to go in a straight line. That said, I might try a narrower one some time in the future.

Snuffy, (mind if I call you Snuffy? :DLOL) what size was ya using at the time? I love the looks of the "fat" back there, but I'm worried I'd have the same problem you were complaining about. We have some poorly designed areas on I-95 around here and that slope/crown thing would make my commute to work too much "work" if I had to fight it the whole way. Since you have the experience on it, I'm wondering what your thoughts are on sizes.

Not at all. I had a 225/55R16 Bridgestone Potenza. That is the only size I've had any dealings with, so something not so wide would help. It did look good though:cool: Greg from Tx is on both sites and commented about his tire and said he did not have that problem. I can't remember is handle, Gregasarus or something like that:confused::rolleyes:

Officially a "Dark Sider" again

After having a Goodyear Assurance Tripple on my last 2 Suzuki VL1500's, and three rear MC tires in 15500 on the Rocket, I finally got a Goodyear mounted this weekend. I was surprised that the handling characteristic changes of the Rocket weren't as drastic as the Suzuki. Only a couple hundred miles on it so far, but I'm lovin' it! We'll see if that's still the case in about 30k miles.:)

The road crown was a big problem with my first car tire a Goodyear Eagle F1 225/50 but I loved the ride and cornering. I got 23k out of it. I switched to a Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus 225/60, the crown problem was greatly reduced and the ride is much smoother than the Goodyear and the cornering is even better. I have 8k on this tire and have had both tires on the dragon with no problems.

I switched back to a Avon in the stock size! I tried a Rikon Raptor in the 225 size! handling was not too bad other than some roads as listed by others! Im a little twisted on the HP thing! I lost about 7mph on top end! 1st through 3rd not really noticeable! but 5th and 6th gear I could feel the difference! may switch back if I am able to afford the carpenter mods!

I don't regret going Darkside on my Rocket, per se, however, I felt that it was a mistake for me, given my riding style and a strong desire to avoid any accidents.

I am a fairly aggressive rider who occasionally likes to attack the twisties pretty hard and after doing so the very first time, and then observing how that got me scraping rubber off the sidewalls about 2' up from the edge of the tread, I just couldn't find any rationalization strong enough to force me to accept the extra hazard and risks associated with using a car tire on the rear end of this bike. To others, although I would not recommend it, I say, "to each their own".

Phil I was going to ask you if a lecture came with the purchase of the tire, but decided it might not be a good idea.
You answered my question without me asking.
