Lucky me the last bolt I broke off left the remainder loose but recessed in the hole. Sprayed oil in, and used the broken off head as a "key" to unscrew the broken shaft.

craftsman makes an extractor set that goes over the bolt and will turn it right out.
the set is numbered 1-10
on ebay but i was not impressed with the ratings of the sellers.

A simple cheapo method would be to tap a tight or slightly too small hex socket over the stump and use you 3/8 or 1/4 inch drive to remove.

My bolts and gasket are on the way, so I guess I'll drop the sump when I feel like it and see what I'm in for.
Got lots of good advice to keep me on the right track!!!

Irwin seems to have nice sets. And I think I can get those at Ace Hardware one size at a time.
