Regarding the looks of the 130, well, that's totally subjective. I thought that I'd hate the gap and have to drill and drop the fork guards and fenders, but it's grown on me and I think it gives the ole' girl a very racy, kinda' slammed look.

As for wear on the Michelin 140 goes, all I can tell ya' is that I rode the piss out of the thing and it was easily good for 10K miles (even though I removed it at about 8,300). Either ole bull's tire was defective, improperly mounted, improperly balanced, improperly inflated or he rides on roads made from 40 grit sandpaper.:p I'm not pickin' on ya' bull, but something's wrong with that picture... maybe something you should speak to Michelin about as they tout that particular tire as an extended mileage product.

Peter, the bike responds and behaves better in all respects, including braking

I agree with you regarding the unusual wear. I sent the tire back to Rocky Mountain ATV and MC where I purchased it. They sent it to Michelin and Michelin agreed it was defective so they credited my account the full price. HOW ABOUT THAT!
Over the past 10 years and 24 tires I have purchased, I have found Rocky Mountain to have the best prices and service.
Best Regards,

That makes me feel better. Good outcome Bull!
I'm due a new front. Suddenly the Avon's down to the wear markers. Thinking seriously about putting a Commander on there. If only I had that second front guard I've been waiting for..............;)

Thanks for the info, .49 inch is not that much of a change. I will be in need of a tire change by proberbly Nov. the rate I'm going.
Starting to shop around for the Bridgestone.

I was looking at the Excedra Max for the rear of my RTR.
There is a 240/55 ZR16, and a 240/55 R16. Both seem to be V rated for speeds up to 149 mph, but the ZR is more expensive than the R. What is the difference?

Steel, from my experience when looking it was a labeling issue. They're not both V rated. A lot of dealers amazingly enough don't know what they're talking about and just copy/paste descriptions. Others list without the "Z" because they only carry one tire and don't differentiate. Simply be very specific about the speed rating when you order and you should be fine.

A V rated tire is god for sustained runs up to 149 mph. The ZR rating is good for 149+ mph.

B'stone makes two 240 55/16 Exedra Maxes. The G852 is made exclusively for the Suzuki C109R's rim. Our monsters are best to be fitted with the higher rated tire, especially if your engine is worked and you occasionally like to play with fire!;) Assumedly, the Z rated meat is made from a slightly harder, longer-lived compound, thus the slightly higher cost.

Here is a good piece explaining speed ratings: Understand Motorcycle Tires @ MotorCycleAnchor.COM

The description said the ZR had something to do with the production process. Both Max tires showed a V rating for speed. I ordered the cheaper R instead of the ZR.
Did I mess up?
