Boss Hoss

Saw one of these in the same consignment shop I got my RR.

Engine: 351 Windsor 5.8L

Boss Hoss looks clunky to me but the Kannon looked like another bike until the engine caught my eye (The one I saw was a John Deere green that had been left in the sun too long). Didn't even know they existed until I saw it sitting in the corner. I don't think I could ride a bike like the Hoss or the Kannon though, I'd be worried about maneuverability. Truth be told I only risked the Rocket because the forums here and some of the reviews I read pointed out how well it handled for a bike it's size.

I think the Boss Hoss is pretty darn cool, and I'd love to ride one one day for the fun of it... it definitely has that "Wow" Factor! But as others say, its definitely not a commuters bike and I doubt Its got the best rideability.. but if your looking to impress everyone there really isn't any other options that can impress more then at V8 in a motorcycle like that! I am not sure if its true but I believe they also have a reverse gear, which I wish the rocket had as well.

From their web site

The factory new General Motors engines and custom built proprietary 2-speed semi-automatic transmissions with reverse for the bikes...

Watched a guy back one out of a spot at Port Dover once. No way he would have gotten out with reverse gear

I certainly go the attention of the crowd, that's for sure.

Well, it has been said that the Rocket will be discontinued soon... so if Triumph is going to just sit there and try selling Thunderbirds as an alternative, there will be a lot of people turning to the Boss Hoss.

I would absolutely love to own and ride a Boss Hoss but not as my only bike. It's really meant for the open highway and would suck to drive around town. My choice in buying a turbo charged Rocket is that I considered it only one step down. At 225 ft/lbs I often tell people the only other bike with more torque is a Boss Hoss.

I'm the one that won't be in that crowd, as they are moltofugly, lousy handling autocycles (half car-half cycle) that aren't good for much else than the Main Street cruiser "look-at-me" crowd or for performing burnouts. They fail almost completely at transferring their V-8s' output into usable/rideable power.

Whether our rockets remain extant or not, they are exceedingly more robust motorcycles than the Boss in virtually every department.

However, as I am prone to saying, there's a seat for every ass and an ass for every seat, so if that's what floats yer' boat, enjoy it, regardless of the opinions of others!

Rocket discontinued? Why would Triumph come out with a Rocket Trike?
