So... I went with Bridgestone, front and rear. Thanks very much to Idaho Red Rocket 3 for the referral to Rocky Mountain ATV, they had killer prices and free shipping.

I was still thinking about going with Bike Bandit since they offer a 3rd party road hazard warranty. But, they didn't have the Excedra in stock, and it would have been another $100+ for the warranty - not to mention $50 or so higher than RMATV's price, so I gave up my security blanket. I've gone awhile without picking up a nail, but a few years ago I went through 6 tires in 18 months. When I was looking at $385 from the local dealer for a rear tire, I started really looking into a road hazard offer. Interestingly enough, Avon offers a free one directly, good for 1 year from the date of purchase.

Based on those of you that have reported better wear and performance with the Bridgies, and the fairly significantly lower price, I decided to try them.

We'll find out after next week whether you guys are still on my Christmas card list...

Hi Jallen, interesting that you went for the Bridgestone front. I will be looking to replace both tyres over the winter months and the verdict on this 'ere forum seemed to be for the Bridgestone rear and the Avon front. Would be interested to hear of your verdict on this pairing.

As stated by Rob, @Claviger . . . there is NO suitable Bridgestone for the front of a Rocket Roadster!
IMHO - the Avon is a get-me-by choice and OK, but not great.

Well, crap. I ordered the G701. Saw a lot of folks were running different front/rear brands - which triggers the latent OCD in me - but didn't pick up on the dislike for Bridgestone fronts.

It's not dislike. Quickly call and cancel the order for the front.

Bridgestone simply do not make a front tire suitable for the load, speed, grip, radial construction and size.

Avon front is the best of the standard options in my opinion.

That makes it easier to understand the mixing of brands - Bridgestone rear with Avon front!!

Was able to change the front tire to the Avon. Just barely made it under the wire!

Just put a new avon on the front this morning and the steering is way lighter and positive...i know i'm gonna notice the difference between a worn tyre and a new tyre but it just feels way better.....
