Current retail on an Exedra Max is around $360, fitted and balanced. They're generally in stock and you can drop in whenever it suits you and have one fitted while you wait. Because the shop sells lots of tyres right now, if you brought a tyre in that you bought somewhere else, you'd get it fitted while you wait for about $50. Problem is if more and more people start bringing their own tyres in to get fitted, businesses will have to cover wages and equipment by charging more for fitting. Fitting cost could easily go up to $100 or even hourly rate - bags and pipes generally have to come off and be refitted and the whole job can take over an hour. You could also he slugged with a disposal fee of $20-$50 and balancing. Not only that, you'll be unlikely to get it done while you wait if the trend continues and will either have to make a booking days (or weeks) in advance and go to the end of the queue behind every tyre purchased on site. This isn't just gloom and a doom; it's happening. $173 plus $50 fitting now represents quite a saving. However, it could well lead to a situation where there's little or no saving and a lot of inconvenience. And who hasn't needed a tyre in an emergency.
Add it up. $173 + fitting $100 (or more) + disposal $35 + balancing $25. Then there's the need to book it in.....Is this what you really want?
Just sayin'.
