Australian Triples Rally

Check out the VW Amerok. Brother is on his second one and reckons its a good vehicle and rises like a car. He went from land cruiser utes...
Heard bad stories about the build quality of the Amerok, made in Argentina I think. To tell the truth I've heard horror stories about every 4x4 diesel ute on the market. Just got to look at them all and go with the one we like. There's a place down at Yatala that fits a 7 litre super charged V8 diesel in Nissan Patrols for $25k drive in drive out. Having a look at that too.

Agreed, it's a personal choice. The upgrade would be good of you never intended to sell the vehicle due to being over capitalised but then again the modern options really are not as robust as what you have.

Thanks for the photos Bruce , great turnout by the look of it. More Hurricanes than I'd ever imagine were here in Australia. Lots of large girths and grey beards .. old guys just keep on doing it.

Ah yes the beauty of restored 40 to 50 year old triples and digital photography. OOPS ! Some of those riders didn't fair as well as the bikes.

I thought you would like the photos. Holty said 48 triple owners had booked accommodation I don't know how many turned up.

Could look at them all day. Thanks Bruce.
Tell you what though. The Hurricane is amazing and clearly incredibly desirable (I'd love one) but I have to say I prefer the looks of some of the more classical models. Warms my heart to see so many enthusiasts, and not all of them with grey beards.

I went for a ride down there yesterday morning. Rained nearly all the way... Must buy some southern clothing, my jacket, gloves & even boots are all ventilated from life in the top end. I was freezing... Sun came out 20ks out of town. Bikes were all parked in the Main Street, easily 50 of them. Took some pics (Won't post as Bruce has covered it.) chatted to a few, very welcoming crowd. Some pretty nice sounds when they all left and went for the ride. There was a bit of interest in my bike being the only big girl in town at that time. It was a case of then and now... Had coffee, dried out then came home, yep pissed with rain again until I got to the border and then sun came out. Gotta love Queensland, clearly the government here pays extra for the sunshine.

We had three days of sunshine here .. rare this time of the year. We went for a 250klm ride out to Bluff Knoll in the Sterling Ranges. Derby Day ( Aussies rules ) here so I was pretty sure all the coppers would be holed up in a pub somewhere (making sure crowd behaved themselves) .. opened the Rocket up on a lot of the straights , was a great ride.

I really enjoyed seeing the photos. It must have been nirvana to be there. I used to lust for an X 75 Hurricane. No that they are at crazy prices the lust has subsided.
