Australian tyre prices

Big factor is how hard you gas it off the line .. that's what I reckon anyway. If you can resist the urge to nail it away from lights they'll last way longer I've found. I've gotten 20,000 klms out of a rear Metzler , but it's well and truly rooted by then. Roads up in the Territory have really course aggregate ( for the wet season I guess) they were murder on tyres. Road surfaces , riding styles and the right tyre pressure all play a part. I've always run 45psi in the rear and 40 in the front.
I've been fairly brutal over the weekend and have managed to round off the rear tyre nicely, it's amazing how much better it handles now

When you replace the rear Tyre. Be sure to ask the shop to grease the rear splines with molly 60 grease or equivalent.

Triumph don't tell their techs to do this ..well they didn't a couple of years ago anyway. Up to you to make sure it's done, like Mittzy suggested at every tyre change. Had the spline on my driveshaft shear just out of warranty. Triumph Australia did the righty and replaced it. Diff, shaft etc cost $5,000AUD to replace.

Well I rang my local tyre supplier and ordered the Bridgestone today, $359 recommended retail.

Just out of curiousity at what kms does the reserve fuel light come on ?
Mine came on at 195kms I refuelled at 216kms and it took 16 litres which leaves me 8 litres spare, this means that I potentially could have travelled another 108kms before running out, this = 13.5 km per litre of fuel, the first time I measured this I averaged 16.5 kms per litre( not riding hard )
What is your average ????

When my light comes on (roadster) the gauge says 80klms to go, but I recon you could push it a bit more.

I don't care for my mileage and fuel use. I just fill it up when it's close to empty and keep riding.

My light generally comes on when I've used 17-18 litres. You're getting much better mileage than me, by the way. I usually get between 10 and 12 km per litre around town (sometimes better), 15 - 18 on a trip. I think I must like to take off quickly :D.

Yeah I always use the trip meter, my R3 doesn't have a fuel gauge, that's why I was surprised when the fuel light came on only after 195kms. I'm still learning its limits & I hate running out if fuel.
