Someone asked me what I thought of apes. I answered it with a question.
Do you ever see round the world riders on bikes with apes,or stunt riders,or race bike riders,or off road riders?
The answer is obviously no to all of them.In fact you only see Harley and harley clones with them and thats not a good recommendation for anything.
It seems to go hand in hand with dressing like a pirate/gypsy whenever you go for ride.

I guess if you have an armfull of tattoos you want to show off, apes with sub standard safety gear is a good way to do it:rolleyes:

I couldn't have put any better.... good job.

I've only ever ridden one bike with 'apes' .. Was a loan bike , the Dyna with them stock , can't remember the catchy name for the model  .. I was surprised just how comfortable they actually were.

I couldn't care what bars anyone wants to run - OK, maybe those stupidly high bars on that yellow bike but surely he isn't being serious. I'd be happy to run whatever bars I found comfortable and could care 2 tosses what anyone thinks. It's my bike after all and if someone wants to put them on their Rocket so be it. Personally I don't think they suit the bike and in any case I'm happy with what I have. I probably wouldn't do it, but so what.

What really is starting to piss me off is the enormous chip some people on here seem to have on their shoulders about Harleys. Jeez what gives? What are you afraid of? From T shirts (Zero Pork - give me a break) to being anti ape hanger bars simply because they're seen on Harleys. :(:(:(:(:(:(

I love my Rocket because it's a Rocket; not because it's not a Harley. Get over it guys.

I dont have a chip about Harleys ,more about the culture that SOME owners exude.
I have quite few friends that ride them, but I no longer go on rides that have the "tosser" element who's consumerist lifestyle has overtaken the joy of motorcycle riding.

Any HD rider who wants to ride is fine with me. But if he/she wants to sit al fresco in cafes or bars where they can soak up the drool from passerbys can stay there.
I like the wind in my face.;)

EDIT I'll also admit I have found R3 owners who could be slotted into the above catagory.

I gotta say there's some wantabees riding Triumphs and jap bikes out there. I don't get it if you want a Harley buy one. Thats good (had one for 20 years and loved it) just don't buy a jap bike thats trying to look like one or modify your Triumph to look like one please. Sorry if that offends anyone on here but you'll survive.

Not in a million years would I ever consider apes. They look stupid, IMO, and they generally do nothing but compromise handling and rider safety or, in the eyes of an extreme minority, make you look or feel cooler than others, but, hey, to each their own...

If you like them ,, want them ,, and can afford them ,,, GET THEM .. iTS YOUR BIKE ITS YOUR COMFORT,, I had a streetbob , before i got my tourer , That was one hell of a comfortable bike , with the mini apes , Over 60 mph it bacame a parachute and hard work but for a bar hopper it was a great bike

I got the tourer because my riding style changed i started doing more long distance stuff , so the Harley became my second bike , i changed it for a T bird , which i changed for a bonnie , which i just changed for a 650 v strom ' , and i've got no doubt that eventually i will probably end up with another street bob , the longer i go without it the more i relize what a good bike it was , .

Horses for courses , for running around the streets , and hopping bars , the Harley is a great machine . For interstate , and long distance , its the Tourer all the way .

Mini apes i found were very comfortable , but i would'nt bother if your doing long distance riding , then you just become a parachute ,,

Its funny how some people don't like the apes but they will put skulls and demonic crap on their flyscreens and such. Too funny. Its true that apes don't help in the handling of a rocket 3 but the handleing of my rocket to some of the other bikes I have is kind of a joke anyway.
PUT THE APES ON I WANT TO SEE IT.:D
