Amazing how fast the last bit of tire leaves.

SO your saying they are purposely designing the tires so they wear out fast hmmm so if one company would make a long lasting tire they would corner the market .
That's not what I said, but it's essentially true. Some call it planned obsolescence. Yes if someone makes a MC tire with just decent traction and last more than twenty thousand miles of course they would clean up. But why spend $$$$ on development & testing. They're already cleaning up with 20-30 year old technology. MC tire development has not kept pace with car tires. So called blow outs, tread separation, bead failure etc. have become relics of the past on car tires. Believe it or not MC tires could be the same.

IDK about that, they have dual and even triple compound tires now, harder in the center and softer on the sides. Pilot Powers are great, I think they are on generation 3 or 4 now, but they don't fit our bikes.

M/C tires are also rated for weight ratings it is the number after tire size usually followed by a letter which is the speed rating

It's not the compound but the tread depth. Seems like motorcycle tires don't have very much tread depth .... like you buying a wore out tire when purchased new.

Most new front m/c tires are 5/32 - 6/32 -And rears are 8/32 - 9/32 for street tires & 10/32 - 11/32 for touring, typical car tires are 11/32. So a front tire is slightly more than half as much tread depth new, & still lasts twice as long (obviously due to weight, ect, but also because you lean the bike to turn instead of steering the front end which causes more wear on a 4 wheel veh)
It is recommended to replace at 2/32 & the legal limits is 1/32

Wait, you guys really want car compounds on MC tires?!

No, you don't, but you think you do. Car tires are HARD, they don't flex, as a result they slide easily when lateral forces are applied. Just the kind of forces applied during cornering of a motorcycle. Darksiders run very low air pressure to combat that, but it only goes so far, and ultimate lateral grip is less than a proper MC tire.

Someone did mention multi compound tires, and really, that is the right answer. A stiff center section with a fairly hard compound, with flexible shoulders running a softer compound would be the fix to our mileage challenged bikes. Pilot Powers, original lasted me around 6k miles on my Daytona, pilot road 2s lasted around 11k, and pilot power 3s have gone 5k and are barely worn at all, while have the most grip of the three models.

Tri-compound front and bi-compound rears would give 20k miles capability while not compromising cornering, but the cruiser market doesn't clamour for cornering ability so they won't make us said tires.

Just a mention, if you are a heavy hand on the Rocket in the low gears you will cut your tire life in half, even on a stock bike with no wheel spin. My Metzler was dead at 4k miles.... Lol.

I'm an Avon Cobra advocate. I run Avons with "Ride on" tire sealant and balancer installed. Just changed the front out with 11.5k miles on it. That is pretty much the norm for me.

YEP if you ride hard all the time you will kill the tire thats expected and thats also hard on the rest of the bike so dont ***** about your bike if you beat it all the time low tire mileage is a indication of rider abuse
