Air Intake Question

Oh, sweet, I would prefer that over the RamAir.

Just gotta figure out what people are doing with the Air Flow sensor....

Air flow sensor goes in one of the smaller K&N filters and gats cable tied to the fuel rail. the filter just keeps the crap out of the sensor (bugs - Grit - Cats - birds etc)

@Tripps, Do you run all open like that (without a bearclaw/modified claw)? And are those the K&N 4780's?

Seems like that would really jack up the sensor/mixture as it would read no flow at all. Unless, I am totally missing what that sensor is doing. Its reading air flow correct?

I find it interesting that we talk about the triple K&N conversion, but I can't seem to find a good write up on the process. Of course, it seems pretty straight forward;

- Remove Seat
- Lift tank
- Remove all existing ducting
- Create new storage box under seat (fill)
- Install K&N RU-2780's on to Throttle bodies (x3)
- Install PCV K&N 62-1340
- Install Air Temp Sensor into K&N 62-1340 - locate in area near throttle bodies
- Do 12 minute tune (until you get a download, then download to ECM)
- Optional - relocate catch can to new location?
- Reinstall bear claw (no cutting necessary)

That about got it?

Rick, those fit under the Bearclaw without having to cut it?

Also, what did you do with the sensor that is in the original intake plenum?

Yes they do fit under the Bear Claw. Keep the filters turned slightly as illustrated in the photo. The second photo is from someone that extended the Air temp wire harness and put the sensor into the # 1 filter. Not a bad idea and will save you $25.00. I put the filter on the Air temp and zip tied it between the #1 and # 2 filter. There is a huge power benefit with this air filter change even with the stock exhaust. You will notice it on your first ride. instant throttle response and more torque and more power on top. I would suggest to anyone to do this inexpensive upgrade.
