5.75 Daymaker alternatives?

my wife wont let me out after dark
YES exactly the new lighting is ten times better that the 30 year old lights that we had no complaints about but NOW we cant possible drive at night without at least the super expensive DAYMAKERS that will most likely be below average in a year LOL

dont know about all that, its just that shes got other things for me to do

Just out of interest (and in the vague hope I may actually have some "disposable" income in the not too distant future) Has anyone found the 8690 adaptives (ECE marked ones) at less than 700 USD each?

I live out in the back end of nowhere now, it gets properly dark out here and Norwegians haven't heard of straight roads

O.k. I'm game. BUT . . . Amazon $799 (with *free* shipping). Can someone do better than that ?

Well Art, I've seen things go the other way. Sometimes I think I need something, then think better of it, and put in my "Save for later" list on Amazon. Amazon helpfully tells me every time I go back (and this was in this week's Wall Street Journal just happens) that "the price has changed", and in these cases, there have been some big jumps UP -- the few that go down are only by a little -- maybe just the things I buy.

So, source anyone for the 7" adaptive for under $800 ?

Joe you are absolutely right about pricing. I very seldom see the numbers go down. The item that I need normally goes up or goes away.
To top that, usually the item I want is the most expensive too. I could pick out a bag of sand from 3 identical sand bags and I betcha it will be the most expensive one! Go figure...

Ya just don't know, what you don't know, Art!
MC headlight have sucked at least as long as I've been riding (since 1950).
I was in trial just today regarding a MC crash caused by an unmarked pedestrian concrete island placed in the middle of the road.
The MC light on low beam at night was only sufficient for a max of 63 feet ahead of the rider!!!
If traveling down the road at 30 mph (44 feet/sec) just your perception response time of 2 sec equates to 88 feet. CRASH, BANG, BOOM!
This does not even consider the time and distance it would take to stop or swerve to avoid (another 43 feet).
Now this was indeed an HD without Daymakers or LED and some OEM MCs are better, like up to 120 feet. Cage lights in a comparable setting are are around 300 feet, give or take. A HUGE difference!!!
In the 30 mph speed zone case, in order for the MC to NOT override his headlight, his speed would need to be about 20 mph . . . in a 30 zone!?!?
Just sayin' . . .
