3xK&N + cut BC - done!

Sweet... I think the pre filters are the way to go. Won't let the moisture in as easy, save the filters from becoming dirty and ugly. Good job ro6ert. OK, I understand I can't get the ring. Now, what does the 6 in ro6ert mean?

Thanks Kid :)
The 6 means nothing. Started when applying for different accounts, like hotmail or gmail. Robert was/is always taken. ro6ert is never so I made it mine. Simple as that :)

Gday TC
I have ridden in weather with my filters exposed a few times out towoomba way where it was raining so hard my boots filled up with water and i have never had a problem yet mate  and i dont even use the covers on mine because i dont like the look of them.
I was a little concerned about the rain at first too but so far so good
Regards Mitch
Thanks Mitch , think i'll go for the 'evil:evil:cut' when im ready to add the pods, sharpen up those tinsnips young fella.

riding in the rain is nothing to the filters.
You'll never even be able to tell they're not covered.
(except for the dang crickets that come imbedded in them filters).;);)

Thanks Kid :)

Now I see. Always wondered. Hey, those pre-filters will keep those grass hoppers from get'n in.

using a metal nibbler would seem to be the fastest & easiest way to cut the BC. There are manual, air, & electric version depending on cost. I have used the manual hand held ones on computer cases before. Actually looking at picking up the air version.

Just saying DREMEL :)

+1 on the dremmel. Don't need the pre-filters but the filters do get dirty quickly without them, I've been cleaning mine every 5,000 miles or so (I've gotten in the habit of doing it whenever I change the tire). Rain hasn't been a problem here. No need to replace or move the overflow, you can't really see it unless you go looking for it. Now if someone -flip- could do up some shiny bits for the top of the filters, pleeease!

Has anyone used different filters besides the 2780s or those beer can looking things? It seems like there's room for taller filters or ones with filter on top as well as the sides (if someone makes them) like an RR-2801 or the X-stream series (K&N Engineering, Inc. I also see that K&N will do custom filters, maybe a bulk purchase will make the price reasonable. Or is a larger filter pointless with the current exhaust offerings? It just seems to my amateur brain that we should be able to get more than 150HP from the engine with aftermarket exhaust and larger air intake, or is the stock engine too limited in other areas (injectors, fuel pump, etc)?
