Head is good to go. Vacuum test excellent. The seats are 67thou and very concentric on all. Thats a relief i must admit.

Cases are sealed up. Valves are about set, waiting on a 245 bucket shim, and then its time to set the cams according to the lush racing cam card (Neville says where😎) then ill hit him up with some compression numbers and if he likes the numbers im a go for install 💪 IMG_0587.jpeg *ive asked a forum pro about the head gasket threebond 1102b around oil feed hole and it seems its not in his book, can anyone confirm doing this? And if youve taken apart at a later time how did it look, i just removed a stock head gasket from this engine and it did not have this threebond 1102 on the head gasket oil hole area. I have the 1102b which is obsolete now.

Not in my manual or recollection, does your manual have date on it e.g. front page?

There are 2 versions of the head gasket available, there's a pic there that illustrates the differences, I wonder was this Threebond thing only there for the older style gasket or why would they update the gasket.

Mind you I've used both gaskets and no probs and not used Threebond there.
You'd wonder why the old gasket is still available, the new improved one is fully compatible with all engines afaik.

Thanks for detailed comparisons, can't remember which gasket I used, hopefully the new style, either way it's still working.
 
The book with the threebond must be for the old gasket without the embossed areas that act as a spring if head lifts. Thanks R-111-R for help clearing that up, moving on

Who the heck determined steel stamping that "80" adjacent to hole at lower left and pre crushing the gasket was a good idea??? DUMBASS!
 
Valve clearances are set, intake .127mm and exhaust.178mm, all are the same. The shims needed were all approximately the same to get dialed in where i wanted. (The photo of valve clearances was before final adjustment) The original stock shims are like a 2.80mm and 2.90mm respectively on int and ex., and i ended up with 2.67mm and 2.60mm respectively to get where i wanted, so I would think the valve job was cut very accurately, i valve lapped with multiple grits upto 1500 grit and the surfaces did get smoother and smoother., so thats it for this step, Its seals great i was told by head shop when i vac tested, its got good seat width, all the same, and all the valve clearances are the same, looks good to keep moving on to install and timing. Goona be a beast! (I hope) these valves get down in that hole😎
