That would seem to be the case, spoke with a dealer last week Ref lead times on the R and he said it would be in by end of March. That’s 6 weeks earlier then the unconfirmed date for my GT! However if I was to speck it with the GT parts your looking at close to another £1200!! Maybe an option though as I have feeling the GT dates are going to move again..... rumours of June keep popping up!
When you say it will cost you another £1200, are you factoring in the £700 more that the GT costs over the R?
In my case, I added a backrest + rack, a screen and front and rear touring seats. This brought the price to £20,580 which was £380 more than the base price of a GT.
Plus I got the Red colour I wanted
And by the time I sell my front and rear 'R' seats (anyone interested?) the cost will have evened out..
I don't think there will be a lot discounted or sitting around at dealers. My dealer has sold all but one that they were allotted for the year. They sold at full list price. If they do start showing up discounted or low prices for used units I'll be picking up another one to play with. I had another good ride yesterday on my GT and I can't get enough of it. Oh and my two favorite features yesterday was the heated grips and my new GPS mount. Both works great.

Fair one, gotta be honest the only thing that makes me think the R would be a better option regardless of lead times is the Diamond cut Alloys on the GT... uk weather destroys Diamond cut alloys as a rule.

Yes, the GT alloys are nicer, but as you say they don't weather well in our country.
Just saw an Ad for Triumph's 30th anniversary on 26th March this year - so there could be some good deals to be had then! I'm looking to buy the panniers too, so I think I'll hold off until then...

Come to Daytona Triumph. They have 3 sitting out front for at least a month and not one sold. Bike Week is coming. If they don't sell then, the discounts won't be far behind.
